Police Report: "This Armed Robbery Went Very Badly for the Suspect"

Around 1am Saturday morning a young 17 yr old punk named Reneau Jean Jacques from East Stroudsburg, PA thought he saw a perfect target to rob at gunpoint in the middle of the night. Joshua Eastman, 28, and also from East Stroudsburg, was busy loading groceries into his car in the parking lot of the local WalMart store. As Jacques ran up to Eastman armed with a handgun, he did not know that Eastman had a concealed handgun license, and was also armed.

Jacques threatened Eastman, pointed his handgun at him, and demanded money. Eastman refused to cooperate, and explained that he had no cash on him, and only had a debit card. Eastman then threw his wallet down to the ground, and at the same time ducked behind his car door. At that moment, a bullet from Jacques' pistol smashed through the car door's window, barely missing Eastman.

Now shielded behind his car door, Eastman drew his pistol, and fired back at Jacques from under the door, hitting his attacker multiple times in the leg and foot. Wounded, Jacques then limped away and fled.

Eastman quickly ran back to the store, and the police were summoned. Injured, Jacques was unable to get very far. Police caught Jacques in the act of attempting to bury his pistol under some bushes near the parking lot.

Sgt. James Wielgus of the East Stroudsburg Police Department told the press: "This appears to be an armed robbery that went very badly for the suspect, because he picked on an armed customer." Jacques has been charged as an adult with the crimes of attempted murder, robbery, aggravated assault, violent crime committed with a firearm, and illegal possession of a firearm, all felonies. The teenager now faces up to 30 years in state prison, if convicted of all charges.

Here is a photo taken of Reneau Jean Jacques as police led him out of the hospital, after he had been treated for his gunshot wounds. He is expected to make a full recovery from his wounds.

I guess his robbery attempt didn't go quite like he had planned it.

Bravo Zulu on our boy Eastman! Glad he came outta this as well as he did and hope that our teenaged 'choir-boy' gets most of those 30.

The 'anti' news media (most of them) do not like stories like this.
    Congrats to this prepared victim.

It turns out that Jacques has a long juvenile record. The authorities had tried to rehab him, by enrolling him in Shawnee Academy, a special residential treatment center and school for disturbed youths. However, Jacques went AWOL from the facility that night.

So the system has bent over backwards to try to help him and turn him around. I guess this incident simply proves that he belongs in prison after all.

Very sad and tragic to see such a young life being thrown away. But at this point, I think the only viable option now is to lock him up. He is just too dangerous to be allowed to remain in society.

A feel-good story to be sure. How about Strategy and Tactics here?

Eastman might have had better SA. That can be tough to assess from the comfort of our armchairs. But if a punk like this is moving up on you fast late at night in a Wal Mart parking lot, chances are he ain't selling Girl Scout cookies. Big question here is whether Eastman saw it coming but kept loading groceries, or was he taken totally by surprise?

Next, throwing down the wallet as a distraction to duck behind the door. I've seen this advocated - the wallet bit. Ducking behind the door is a real last-ditch move. Eastman knows he's going to be shooting, now. But a car door doesn't offer much protection. Then he fires under the door, taking out the punk's feet. Smart move - very Miller's Crossing. He does the unexpected.

My thinking is that he could have pretended to be digging for his wallet and drawn his firearm instead, and just opened fire right there. The car door move worked out very nicely for him, but I'm not feeling like I'd ever want to try this. There was a scenario I ran in an IPSC event where you're loading groceries into a car and two perps emerge out in front of the car, so as you begin, you're on one side of the open door and they're on the other. Of course then you use the cover.

Sorry no rehab for this thug. Now it should be "hard time". He picked his life. Mark another one up for the good guys...and they think gun control would have prevented this.

What ever happened to bg's doing hard time. I think the prison system has become a life of ease for thugs.

Read about what happened to this child pornographer behind bars in Pennsylvania. Personally, I'm overjoyed to learn that this is the kind of treatment they get, but it also makes it clear that hard time is, in fact, hard time.

However, Mr. Eastman had excellent gun control. A leg and foot isn't a very big target and he hit multiple times.

Heres yet another example of how complying can still get you killed. The Victim gave up his wallet, and the Suspect still fired afterwards. Excellent job by the "Victim". Something tells me this man has had some practice.

Thanks for sharing the link, I'm passing it along on Facebook.

Yeah, it is an old article. But this is the first time I ever saw it. And it's a GREAT example of how important SA truly is...............
