Thumbs up "It's gonna be a good day, 'Tater"

I finally got my pistol permit today, and that is why in the words of ron white "its gonna be a good day, tater".

After 7 day waiting period and a meeting with my university's PD dept. i was granted the ability to carry a firearm in the fine state of alabama.

Now I just have to wait on my crossbreed quicktuck in the mail. (anybody know recent turnaround times?)

You had me at "tater"...congrats, dude. I must say that the waiting periods have gotten downright awesome!!! I applied for my permit during the Obamascare. Remember?..when AR's were going for two grand and the only handguns left on the shelves were 50 cal desert eagles, and 410/45long taurus judges??? Ah, how times have changed. It took me four months to get my permit.

Took me 13 days to get my crossbreed. It was for a 1911 so maybe they had it on hand. Crossbreed is WELL worth the wait. You will love it.

We used to live in Alabama and I do not recall a waiting period. Has something changed there? If I remember correctly, in Alabama, the permits are issued by the County, not the state. In Mobile County where we lived, the whole procedure took about 30 minutes from start to finish. Walk in, fill out form for back ground check, go down hall to have prints taken, come back to permit office, and wait for back ground check to come back clear. They took your picture, you paid your $20 and they handed you the permit and said have a great day.

TN Mike, there is no "waiting period" in Alabama. The time he's talking about is the lag time between filling out the app, talking to the university police (which the Tuscaloosa county sheriff mandates for students before he issues the permit) and the time it's actually issued.

Personally, I DON'T like being forced to talk with the UA campus police because the Sheriff thinks I should, it's none of their business IMO.. But that's another horse to beat..

A CCW is like a parachute; if you need one, and don't have one, you'll probably never need one again.

    Congratulations.
