I will be attending the NYS Fair in Syracuse Wed. I have not read anywhere that you could not conceal carry, but does anyone know otherwise? Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried calling the Fairgrounds but got no answer. Thanks. Bunker

Look up the state law and look up any local laws....DO NOT call the fairgrounds, as you will get opinion, not fact. Does the fairgrounds have a website? You might want to start there....and even then, look up what the law says...

Hi There.
You posed a great question. I am going there this morning and wanted to find out as well.
My local Sherriffs Office Directed me to call the nearest NYS Troopers Barracks.
I spoke with a Deputy there who was "their firearms guy".
He said that Yes indeed it is legal to CONCEAL CARRY at the NYS Fairgrounds with a valid unrestricted pistol permit granted from within NY.
Question answered.
I did it years ago when I lived there. I'm glad the CCW situation hasn't changed. Enjoy the fair.

After my experience with how well LEOs know gun laws, I wouldn't take the word of one unless he was quoting a state statute, and they usually can't.
Know your state/local laws--not what some LEO knows or thinks he knows.

The pro part of the NYS permit is that while difficult to get once you get it there are very few restictions. Enjoy. Someone mentioned non-resident permit. NYS honors NONE. Do not even consider it.
