I don't ski anymore, too dangerous. ;) ;) But from what I've heard about these new fangled snowboarders I think I'd prefer to OC a Draco with a 75 round drum.
I have a Ruger LC9 that I regularly carry concealed while skiing in a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster that's in a front pocket of my ski jacket and wrapped in hoodie, so if I do happen to fall directly on my belly which I don't think I've ever done, it wouldn't hurt so much. The LC9 is so comfortable to carry that I pretty much don't even know it's there. I carry an extra magazine in my ski pants and I ski without a round in the chamber. Even my friends that know I'm packin' can't tell looking straight at me or feeling the front of my ski jacket.
I experimented with my Glock 26 (Baby Glock) but it felt too heavy and bulky and I could feel it if I had to bend at the waist doing some hardcore skiing in the steeps.
I've never felt unsafe skiing, but I have friends that do ski patrol in SoCal and they say that gangs sometimes are up there and ski patrol is afraid to respond if it's a fight because they may have weapons. Hey...I got my CCW because you just never know and I like that I can legally carry while skiing.
I went skiing the other day and it stayed locked in the car.... Just didn't feel as though it was needed...
The last time I was skiing was 40 years ago, back then I was immensely pleased in just getting down the hill in an upright position. Looking back and with my immense skills at skiing I think it would be a bad choice to carry while skiing.
