    BlackHawk.

Had interview with sheriff back in early July.....that went fine...he gave me a list of class times, and the earliest one I could get into was tomorrow. He indicated that there was an increased interest in CCW of late, and many people are not even waiting until the laws change in Jan.

Qualification requires 10 rounds, and 60% into a 9" circle at 45 feet. I am sure tht I will be nervose, but I should be ok, I think

Oh yeah, in Iowa some counties only do classes twice a year... we aren't "shall issue" until next year...

And every permit issued is at the discretion of that county's sheriff... some won't issue at all. You can't go to any other county but your residence county.

But after Jan 1, that all changes!

    SR9.

After about 350 rounds, the barrel finally straightened out, and I can actually hit something with it.

I bought her back in May, and have spent a few hours at the range, getting acquainted.

Picked up a SuperTuck, and already have that broken in, in anticipation.

That is the first time I have heard of qual distance of 15 yards. Mine was rounds at 3 yds and 7 yds. Not that 15 yds is a bad idea..... Good luck BTW.

right......and after Jan 1, range qual is not a requirement anymore.....but i did not want to wait, and it really is no problem to do. 15 yards seemed like a long distance to me, too......but that is what the requirement is for my county.

    Will post results tomorrow.

Good Luck! I'm not far from you, Jig. I also carry an SR9 in a supertuck, everyday. You'll love it! Look forward to hearing the results, be sure to let us know.

Waiting list? Good gosh! Since July? That bad huh? Well, my best intentions that you'll do well, and make the most of it. I'm sure you've been preparing yourself for the day.
Tomorrow? Prepare yourself for the range qualification.
I'm giving you my best on it all, and come to think of it.......since you're an upstanding member of the forum....there's likely thousands more backing you and wishing the same outcome whether they've replied or not (you did give short notice). Now....you have the look of confidence!
As many have said "good luck", I myself tend to not wish luck. Reason being is that 'luck' is a random thing. You're not on Wheel of Fortune here. Do your best and everything else will fall into place.

I am so happy that Iowa is now a "shall issue" state. I was losing faith in the state I grew up in! Good luck!
    Best Regards from Minnesota,
