Got my approval letter today in CALIFORNIA!
Hey everyone...im pretty excited! Got my packet in the mail today saying I was approved for further processing! I'm in california so i hear its a lot more challenging to be approved. But my county of Orange is one of the most liberal in issuing them.
Heres some anwsers to questions I had when applying...
Can somebody young get approved?
Yes...I'm 23
Can you say you experimented with drugs as a youth?
Yes..i stated I experimented on my application
What good cause statements work?
In OC the avid shooter worked for me.
How long does it take to get a letter back from the sherrif?
took me 1 week to the day
Is it hard to apply?
It was completely simple...i dont know what i was so nervous about.
Thanks for all the help you guys provided for me on this forum!

Excellent indeed - re confirms my thinking that Orange County is pretty OK (for CA
)
Hope all runs to a good and speedy conclusion for you.

Anyone know the rules on applying for an out of state license for California? I always thought it may have been out of the question but since I hear the success of jeffd21 maybe its a possibility...? I travel there quite a bit and if theres one state I would like to carry in the most it would be CA!

Congrats Jeff! Always glad to hear another Californian is armed! Got some interesting stats yesterday from the Eureka Times Standard. Trinity County has the highest carry rate in the state at one in every 31.6. Sierra came in at one in every 32.02 and Modoc at one in every33.27. L.A. county has one in every 5,584.45. of course there is San Francisco City/County: one in 77,673.3 people. I really wish I didn't live only 2 hours from S.F. It could be catching...

Congratulations so far. What does someone have to do at the California border (who has carried legally to the border) for the time they are in the state of California? I have a Texas CHL which I understand will allow me to carry to the California border legally.

Turn around and go back to Texas, I was stationed in the land of Fruits, Nuts, and Flakes (aka California). I don't miss it and would offer it to Mexico as an exchange for them controlling their population.
If you go to California, stop at the border, unload your weapon, place it in a lock box, put the box in the trunk. And re-enter the victim pool.
But for a regular Joe to get a CCW permit there is almost a miracle I have heard, but it depends on the county.

I have driven by it a few times; ground squirrels, coyotes, grapes and a few indians. I understand there is some unexploded ordnance found on occasion...
