How Many carry with a round in the chamber?

I always do but i have had many people tell me that they dont cuz it is unsafe! I figure that if you always handle your gun right its not unsafe and if things go bad and you need to defend yourself will you have time to chamber a round

This topic has been brought up before and it seems like the general consensus is that it's better to have one chambered. If not, then why doesn't LE carry empty? Thousands do it every day and the gun goes bang when they pull it out and pull the trigger. I carry with one chambered, cocked and locked. When I need it, I want it there in an instant.

21 feet, 3-5 seconds and 3 rounds fired is the average I keep hearing.

Consider, Draw, Aim, Shoot Shoot Shoot.... 3-5 seconds

Consider, Draw, Aim, Chamber (if your actively aware), shoot shoot shoot... could be too long.

And yes, I carry with one under the hammer. Always.

This thread might get merged, but I'll answer anyway. I always carry chamber loaded and I carry Glocks and a SA 45acp with thumb safety.
Safe handling of firearms is the key.

When I'm carrying a semi-auto, I do. I EDC a revolver. What good is a defensive firearm if it cannot be rapidly deployed ? Theres something called "Drawing against the Drop" referencing drawing and defending yourself against someone who is also armed with a firearm, if you have to pause to chamber a round ,that alone is almost a garenteed bad outcome for you IMHO.
