Thumbs up Musician and Concealed Carry Permit Holder

Recently, the small group I play drums in was doing a benefit show out in front of our local library, actually for the library's "Card Drive". I noticed a small "gun buster" sign, you know the one with the sillouhette of the semi auto pistol with black circle and slash through it, posted on the door to the building.

We were setting up equipment and one of our newer guitar players was standing next to my drums and setting his amp when I muttered, "Darn, the library is posted for no guns." I was packing a small revolver underneath my shirt in an IWB holster. There are the usual homeless and just creepy folks that hang out there and go in and out. You just really need to be armed even in broad daylight.

He looked at me and said, "Really?" then patted his jeans shorts pocket and said rather dryly, "Maybe I should go put mine back in the truck!" I laughed and said that the sign only meant inside the library, not outside. We chatted a bit about concealed permits, both of us hold one or more and I showed him my non res NH permit and told him how to obtain it.

Needless to say, the gig went off smoothly and now I know another permit holder.

Well that's a pretty good encounter. You never know how many are around you. I usually come across the carry folks at gun shows and get involved in conversation one way or another. Other than that, my only other conversations with strangers about carry has been when I was carrying openly in other states.
