    Texas State Fair Carry

Just wanted to share an experience with those of you planning on going to the Texas State Fair in Dallas. Me and my party arrived and when I went to the man with the metal detector, I presented him my CHL, took about five minutes for a uniformed Dallas PD officer to arrive and verify CHL and Drivers License and and simply said to make sure it stays concealed. I was very impressed how smooth it went unlike alot of supposed horror stories about not being able to get into the fair with a concealed gun without alot of grief. Kudos to the fair for making it an easy experience.

I have been debating whether to carry there or not. I am looking forward to trying the fried beer.

For What It's Worth at The Tulsa State Fair (Sept 30th-Oct10th)

The official word from the Tulsa County Sheriff's Dept is, "CCW is not encouraged, but is legal." Nothing was said about searches at the gate or producing your license.

Congratulations! I carried, legally for the first time, at the North Ga State Fair this past weekend, due to recent changes in the law. I didn't ride any rides, but watched a concert, and watched the girls ride their hearts out. It felt good to be afforded the same rights as criminals have always had, at the fair. :)

Unfortunatly I can not carry when I go to the NC Sate fair as carry is prohibited at an event that charges for admission. I hate it and hope we can get it changed but that is the way it is for now.

My wife and I went Tuesday. We walked up and saw they were wanding people pulled out my drivers Lic. and CHL showed to the Lady and I got a dumbfounded look the supervisor came over and looked at them and said you cant carry inside the Cotton Bowl and keep it concealed and enjoy the fair. Very quick response and friendly exchange. By the way the corny dogs and fried chili pie are great the fried beer is nasty!!

I wish it was the same way here in NM. Guns are not allowed on the fairgrounds during the state fair (except in exhibits), but guess where all the gun shows are held.....the fairgrounds.

I went to the State Fair of Texas last Thursday. Walked up to the main entrance with my wife, two kids, and another family of four. They were wanding some folks but not others, so I decided to just wait and see what happened. The lady with the wand gave me a polite nod, which I returned, and I walked right on in. Profiling, no doubt.

So I also carried at the fair, and only me and mine knew about it. Not bad..

Carried at the Texas State Fair

Went to the Texas State Fair yesterday. I know that a lot of people have had questions about carrying in the Texas State Fair. The answer is YES! Here is what you do. When you walk up to the security officer with the the metal detector show him your drivers license and your CHL and request to speak with a uniformed officer. You will then be directed to an officer and show him your ID. He may ask you a few questions but in my case he was very shocked but nice. He then told me to enjoy the Texas State Fair and I was on my way.
I would like to take a moment to thank the security team at the Texas State Fair. As they were very professional in my opinion. And also a special thanks to all of the men and women who have fought and died for that special right that can not be experienced any where else in the world.

With NC's recent law, if you have a license to carry, you are now exempt from the "charges admission" rule. And since the NC State Fair is public property owned by the state, you are now legal to carry.

Oh wait! They still have the signs and won't let you in if you carry. They have verified to me that they will keep out guns, and that they have metal detectors but don't always use them.

The section of the law they are using refers to a person in control of property who can post a sign, but that same law goes on to say, "in accordance with 14.415.11c", which states plainly, "private premises".

They are violating state law, and need to be sued. I would encourage as many of you as you can to conceal carry, and as you are leaving, to then open carry on your way out. All they can do is ask you to leave, and so you are leaving. If they arrest you at that point, you can sue for false arrest.

What's with the DELAYS, DUMBFOUNDEDNESS, and SHOCK!?! This is Texas, with an estimated 710,000 concealed carry permit holders - about 3.65% of the Texas population. These security people are behaving like they didn't even know that Texas has concealed permits.

I'm glad that they're letting you in and I knew the part about avoiding the Cotton Bowl, but, c'mon, State Fair! Train your security people to know how to handle a permit holder - they show their permit and they go in!

I carried at the TX State Fair last year and didn't waste any time trying to explain to the people with the wands. There was a police offer stationed at the gate and I just told the woman checking bags and wanding that I needed to speak to the police offer. I handed him my driver's license and CHL and he looked at them for 30 seconds said "OK" and handed them back. Woman at the gate seemed very familiar with the process and they didn't even check my wife's purse or bother to wand her. I think they got target fixation watching me and once cleared by the police officer they totally forgot about my wife.
