<----My LT was unhappy that I did not have my PASS-Tag at that fire. But I found the body so he said he would overlook it. :)
As others have stated, I carry an extra mag in case of a mag failure. I'd rather have a spare available. Do I ever anticipate needing all 25 rounds? I sincerely hope not.

You have the power to donate life.
I have a da/sa beretta that has never ftf in over 10,000 rounds with occasional bad maintanence habits from its owner, bless its cold steel heart. So I do not carry extra mags because I figure if I run across a situation with multiple bg's so motivated that 14 rounds doesn't stop them, I should be running not shooting.

If I'm carrying a single stack 1911 then I'll have 2 spare mags. Glock 1 spare and if I'm carrying a wheelgun 1 speedloader.
For all you 1911 guys...
1911 .45 40rd drum! :)

Usually just the mag in the gun, sometimes spare (when I remember) and usually bug.
XD-45, 13+1 & two 13 round mags=40 rounds of 230gr. sledgehammers, If for some ungodly reason that is not enough I also carry a Taurus PT-145, 10+1 and one 10 round mag so now we are up to 61 rounds of 230gr. sledgehammers. If that is not enough to deal with the situation......I will look for a hole to crawl into.
The only thing needed for evil to exist is for good men to stand by and do nothing!!!
I carry just what's in the gun. The way I see it 99% of the BG's out there are not in the business to die, they're going to cut and run as soon as the shooting starts. But now that I've said that, it will be my luck to run in to that one sadistic crackhead that doesn't know any better.

One in the gun and one spare. Unless I'm already running late and I can't find any loaded mags handy, I have yet to find a good reason for not carrying an extra. It's too easy to simply throw one in the pocket.
Hi,
I carry 45 rounds of 9mm (15 rounds in the pistol and two spares on the offside) plus a BUG when "fully loaded."
My justification for this is that I don't necessarily feel I'll need that amount of ammo but I may need to clear malfs that involve ripping the mag out of the pistol and bending the feed lips.
The BUG is "only" a 7 shot .380 and is carried in my weak hand pocket in the event my strong arm is disabled.
The .380 also becomes an "only" gun if deep concealment is required.

i carry a 1911 with a single stack in it, and a mag in a pouch on the belt.

Depending on the primarry that I am carrying. Usually my Taurus PT-101 with a spare mag (23 rounds total), and my BUG/pocket gun (AMT .380/6 rounds), or my 1911 w/spare (17 rounds) and the BUG.
At work, my BUG becomes my primary with my carry being a BUG.
I carry the mag in the weapon and one spare in case of magazine failure. Just like not bothering with a restrike in event of a FTF, if I have a mag problem I'm changing it immediately. It is offset with a small light (Surefire E1e, Surefire L4 Lumamax, or Quiqlite Mini Tac) day or night. The Quiqlite is the same size as the E1e but a lot brighter though not as bright as the Lumamax. All are LED lights so no spare bulbs though I would like to find a simple way to securely carry a spare battery or two (depending on the light I'm carrying).

With Kahr I carry 1 spare mage with Model 60 2 speed strips
It depends on which holster I'm using. With the Crossbreed Supertuck I just carry the gun (9+1). If I carry in the Safepacker (hand-held) I take advantage of the extra mag space and have a total of 19 shots.
