    A couple of thoughts.

I have had non-carry associates ask why do I feel I need to carry even around the house and yard. “Are you looking to shoot someone?” My answer is “Why do you wear as seat belt? Are you looking to get into an accident? I carry not because I am safe 99.99% of the time, it is for danger from the .01% of the time.

Next, A few years ago I had to draw but did not have to shoot because of LE intervention. I was with my family and going into a restaurant in a large city. My family had already entered the restaurant and while I was crossing the parking lot I had a drugged out person beg me for money and when I refused he took an ice pick from his back pack and approached from about 30 feet away. I drew and holding at close ready, demanded he stop but he kept approaching. I had mentally drew a line in the sand that I was not going to let him cross. Just before he crossed that line two police cars rushed into the parking lot and ordered him to the ground at gun point. I found out later he had stabbed another person at another business just down the street from where we were. I was not even asked for a statement nor did they want to see my CWP. Easy out for me.

Yes, on Jan 14th, 2009. I was forced to draw my gun in self defense. I was fortunate in that I did not have to actually fire, but I came as close as one can come to firing without actually doing it.

It was to stop someone carjacking and shooting me at a gas pump on Getwell Road, at the SSam's Club in Memphis Tennessee, in broad daylight at roughly 12 noon.

Yes, I shot someone,. I killed another Human being. I still deal with this, every day. And I hope no one here has to ever deal with this. That is all I have to say on this subject.

When I read it, I thought .... where's the option ... "several times" . LOL. Or, "all of the above".

In a span of 35 years I've had to pull a gun 2 times and the sight of it solved the problem. I worked some bad areas in the early morning.A guy and his girl friend tried to hold me up.The second time we were jumped by a group of thugs and when they saw the gun they took off. You don't have to shoot to get their attention. I don't want to shoot any one if I can resolve the problem any other way.

I have never had to (yet) and hope I never have to, but will certainly use it if I need to.

OT but I sure wish I could carry at work... IMO every person who CCW's is making the world that much safer for everyone.

Exactly. Kind of team work for the most part. That's the way I feel about it too.

This single reply says a lot. Thing is....never threaten...be sure of your response. "Never fired thank God" Something to live by, and hope you never do as well. The Good Lord asked us to be ready at any time. So be it.

I was driving from Dallas to Amarillo at about 2 am and I had to pee. Hwy 287 was deserted so I just pulled over in a large gravel area, got out and did my business. As I was getting back in the truck, a car with a couple of guys in it pulled up and circled me. I pulled my EAA Witness out of the center console, held it up and flipped on the dome light. They left in a hurry.

This was about 12 years ago, way before my CHL.
