KY CCDW Sign
I am more than sure that the answer to this is on this forum but I have not found it. Can anyone help me with No Weapons signs in KY as far as if you must not carry into the place that has posted a sign. I know the normal places you cannot carry like jails, post offices, bars so you can leave those out, I have seen some signs stating no weapons and a certain KRS but can't remember the exact KRS. Also signs stating concealed carry is banned but nothing about open.
Thanks for any help.

The signs carry no weight. If you're asked to leave because you have a weapon you must, or be charged with trespass. I can't remember the rules for open carry since I don't.

I have some customers in a doctors office building that is posted "no deadly weapons" and referrenced KRS 237.110 part 17 so I looked it up.
(17) The owner, business or commercial lessee, or manager of a private business enterprise, day-care center as defined in KRS 199.894 or certified or licensed family child-care home as defined in KRS 199.8982, or a health-care facility licensed under KRS Chapter 216B, except facilities renting or leasing housing, may prohibit persons holding concealed deadly weapon licenses from carrying concealed deadly weapons on the premises and may prohibit employees, not authorized by the employer, holding concealed deadly weapons licenses from carrying concealed deadly weapons on the property of the employer. If the building or the premises are open to the public, the employer or business enterprise shall post signs on or about the premises if carrying concealed weapons is prohibited. Possession of weapons, or ammunition, or both in a vehicle on the premises shall not be a criminal offense so long as the weapons, or ammunition, or both are not removed from the vehicle or brandished while the vehicle is on the premises. A private but not a public employer may prohibit employees or other persons holding a concealed deadly weapons license from carrying concealed deadly weapons, or ammunition, or both in vehicles owned by the employer, but may not prohibit employees or other persons holding a concealed deadly weapons license from carrying concealed deadly weapons, or ammunition, or both in vehicles owned by the employee, except that the Justice and Public Safety Cabinet may prohibit an employee from carrying any weapons, or ammunition, or both other than the weapons, or ammunition, or both issued or authorized to be used by the employee of the cabinet, in a vehicle while transporting persons under the employee's supervision or jurisdiction. Carrying of a concealed weapon, or ammunition, or both in a location specified in this subsection by a license holder shall not be a criminal act but may subject the person to denial from the premises or removal from the premises, and, if an employee of an employer, disciplinary measures by the employer.

Thanks for the help, I thought that it carried no weight except for leaving if asked to. Obviously cc will be concealed and they will never know, right now my EDC will be a Bersa 380 until I get my Bersa 9 or 45 in a Crossbreed ST. 380 is almost invisible the 9 or 45 will be a little harder to conceal but not to bad, just trying to get all my knowledge together for when I get my permit in the next 4-6 weeks.

If you take the KY CCDW course you get to watch a very boring video with all the KY laws. After you get through all the reasons for why your license might be denied, which goes on for about ten pages about what happens if you haven't paid your child support, there is some relevant information about the law. You also get a handbook to follow along with and its got everything in it, I refer to it whenever I am unsure about the law. Although soon I will have to check the KY website because the handbook will be out of date.

Some signs are more specific than others but all have the same "lack of" weight other than noted above-you must leave if asked. Some institutions will call the authorities if you are discovered carrying as an automatic reaction (hospitals for instance) but you will not be arrested unless you refuse to leave.

It goes with out saying but I'll mention it anyway; No Government buildings, Post Office, Police Stations schools etc. The only place here that has one of the, criminals welcome, signs is the hospital. Maybe Wal*Mart, I don't know.. Never go there.
