DE CCDW: What is taking so long?
I applied for my DE CCDW late August and I still haven't heard anything yet. I know I passed the initial state background check but that was a while ago.
The investigator hasn't called me, or any of my references yet. I'm beginning to think I'll never get it
How long did your CCDW take? Anyone work in the New Castle County Clerks Office ?

DSTA (Delaware State Trooper's Association) put out a message awhile back that advised that it was taking so long to get your permit renewed that many were expiring prior to being renewed. State legislature passed a bill that as long as you have sent in your renewal form, your present permit would be valid until you received your renewal. This was done because the permits are being slowed down due to Superior Court being backed up with cases, and the Superior Court Judges who must sign the permits do not have the time to do so. Hang in there, it will come and once you get it you don't have to worry about the time factor anymore.

So am I going to get a call from an investigator? What do I need to know if/when he calls?

I'd call the Prothonatary's (spelling?) office and inquire the status of your permit, they can tell you where it stands at the present time.

I believe that the "main' reason DE gets backed up...is due to the fact that EVERYBODY expires at the same time...so everybody is renewing at the same time. They should stagger the expirations....say on your birthday X years from issue.

That's pretty ridiculous. Is it true that all applications submitted before Dec 31 need to be approved or disapproved in the same year they were applied for?
