Well, if you look anything like your avatar, I think you're safe - most people probably flinch, gag and turn away as soon as they see you

I second the center of mass site for a car safe. I love mine.

Check your laws about the "understandings", here in Fl you can not carry anywhere that is designated for the Consumption of alcohol. Most everywhere sells it. If I couldnt carry in a place that sells I couldnt even get a soda from the corner stop and rob.

If you have a cmdr size 1911 just get the large safe. I bought 1 large and 1 medium. I wish I had bought 2 larges though. They're very sturdy and easy to conceal under a seat. Even if you don't put it under the seat it's small enough to simply put a towel, a map or whatever over it.

I use a car safe too. Seems to be the best potection for my gun when not on my side.

Carry Mace and a cell phone, rely on the police for my safety? I think not.

    1. carry mace, knife, whatever is LEGAL (I'm not saying rely on police)
    2. become super active with your local/state gov't officials to get laws changed
3 DO NOT perform, recommend, or condone illegal acts no matter how frustrating it might be, by doing so it gives all lawful gun owners a bad name and will cause nothing but more grief for pro-2A folks (and yourself) if you get caught

I make sure I don't carry my weapon into our prohibited places, does it suck? yes it does but its the law and if I step over the line then my butt gets put in a sling, I'll lose firearms rights, and I'll be a black mark against lawful carry/pro-2A initiatives

I believe thats what Ride4TheBrand was meaning

If loose gun laws are good for criminals why do criminals support gun control?

Well, what would happen if a BG did come in, you shot him and saved everyone's life? You are going to go to jail. (I presume, but if someone else knows for sure, please correct me.)

I totally understand your feelings, b/c ATL is in the top 10 of almost every crime category. So do we disregard laws that we feel aren't right, but at the same time protecting the ones we love the most?

    Good question.

But, if you do go to jail, as I presume you would, who's going to take care of them then?

Then the counter-argument is: If I don't carry and my family gets shot, then what?

Now, what would happen if the BG came in, you pulled your illegal weapon to try and stop him and you either shoot and miss or just wound him, now the situation escalates and the BG spazs and starts shooting up the place, takes hostages, randomly starts killing people, all b/c you thought the law was stupid. Worst case scenario.

To me, you are in a lose-lose situation:
    - You draw and save the day - Jail time for illegally carrying a firearm and using it.
    - You draw and miss then situation escalates and innocent people die - Jail forever.

64zebra and Maveri9720 .. you both said it well.

Do I think some laws suck? Yepper. Do I wish some laws regarding my ability to legally carry didn't exist? Yepper.

Will I violate them? Not just no.. but hell no. I'll not put myself in the position of becoming a common criminal under the guise of "it's for the good of myself and my family".

In answer to your question, Sig229: Become active to change the law ... or move to a place where you can legally carry.

This thread is being closed because it has run it's course. There are only two answers to the question and one is against Combat Carry rules to even discuss. We have had several posts on this thread to either recommend or admit carrying illegally. So in order to prevent further indiscressions the thread is closed.
