Hope for NYC CCW
I recently picked up my NYC CCW. I have a NYS CCW which was approved for NYC. I am not politically connected and did not pay a penny more than the fees on the application. It did require a lot of "proof" as to why I believe I have a justified cause to carry while in NYC. I agree that the rules are tough regarding getting the license. My only offer of advice to anyone going for this license is this: DO NOT SAY IT IS YOUR 2A RIGHT. I do agree that it is your right, but they don't. They are required to prove why your shouldn't carry. Don't give them the opportunity. I believe this will work for all May Issue states.

Not in the "Free State" of Maryland. The plaintiff in the SAF lawsuit against MD had a CCW and was physicaly attacked in his home. He tried to renew and was turned down? Reason? No proven and sufficent reason to issue a permit.
WTFork?
That's why MD is being sued by the SAF

Wow, congrats. I'd be happy with unrestricted in my county, never mind NYC.

My question for you OP; Are you retired NYPD?
Congrats on the NYC CCW, I always thought they were a myth.

So...what was the reason you gave as to why you have "proper cause" (I think that is the term they use) to have a "need" for a CCW in NYC?
Retired LEO? Carry large amounts of cash? Previous threats? What?
Details man, details!

not a LEO. Don't carry large sums of cash. no threats (Threats need to be recorded by NYPD within the past 2 years). Without going into too much personal detail, I was a victim of a violent crime years ago. I'm in a sales based profession. Not guns or pharmaceuticals. I basically provided as much detail as possible to establish "proper cause" as well as take away their ability to deny my rights based on their statutes. They frown upon ccw lawyers. They try to get you to give up during the initial application interview. the 2nd interview with an investigating officer is not as bad. They do try to find reasons to deny the license. Having NY, CT and FL CCW definitely helps. Also provided copies of certificates from NRA training courses i have taken. I also provided my arrest record.

Sounds like they are trying to avoid denying you, so you wouldn't have legal standing to sue, after the Heller and McDonald precedents. Good on you!

Translation: 99% of people with CCWs in the 'real' America still wouldn't qualify. Still, congratulations.

So, if you can tell us, what were the reasons.

Right: Only if murdered are you illegible for CCW - and you have to prove it.

Still no offense here but, do you folks see why we as a country should not put up with this nonsense of "Gubmit officials" having the power to grant or deny your ability to defend yourself?
It is kind of like the patdown thing going on right now....Ron Paul says it best "if we don't do something about this, there is something wrong with us!"
