    "Concealed Weapons Prohibited"

I saw this sign ("Concealed Weapons Prohibited") at a mall in Springfield, MO over the weekend. We've all seen similar window decals at various retailers, and we have all responded in various ways. Some of us shake our heads and laugh, others of us take our business elsewhere, and still others of us write a letter to the establishment pointing out the utter stupidity of the sign.

My personal reaction this past weekend was to point out the sign to my wife and comment, "Darn! I was about to go in and rob Old Navy with my concealed handgun, but then I saw this sign, and now I guess I can't!" We both shook our heads and chuckled at the stupidity.

But then I had an idea. What if we printed up our own window decals with various phrases like "Murdering Prohibited" or "Robbery Not Allowed on this Property" - after all, isn't the point of the "Concealed Weapons Prohibited" sign to deter crime? If that's the case, then these new decals ought to serve the same purpose but with the added benefit of allowing law-abiding citizens to carry legally into the store (many states allow building owners to take away your Second Amendment right with the simple posting of this type of sign). Another benefit might be that the new decals could highlight the ridiculousness of the current decals.

Now, not that I am suggesting any sort of vandalism, but one might be inclined to print these "new" decals and conveniently place them over the "old" decals. After all, the supposed crime deterent factor is still present with the new decals, it's just more specific. If one were to print their own decals, here are a few suggestions in addition to the two mentioned above:

    "Violent Crimes Prohibited"
"Anyone Who Enters This Property May not Engage in Any Illegal Activity"
"Shooting Anyone for Reasons Other Than Self-Defense or the Defense of Others is Not Allowed"
"Please do NOT do Anything Illegal While on This Property"
    "Thanks for not Mugging"

    Any other suggestions out there?

Those signs are too stupid to respond to, but then the whole idea of being an anti is stupid to begin with. Do people not understand that the second amendment is the only thing that protects their freedom?

The signs are not about crime, their about liability.

I'm assuming it isn't located in an open carry state or you could just carry openly since the sign specifies concealed.

No, they think their elected politicians protect their freedom. LOL!

I live in a state where it is illegal to carry in an establishment with a license to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises. Yet Buffalo Wild wings still feels the need to post corporate a no firearms sign.

In Montana, it is illegal to concealed carry in an establishment with a license to sell alcohol for consumption on the premises or to concealed carry in a bank--yet the law does not prohibit open carry in those same two settings.....

Another forum I used to be on had these for distribution. I don't think it's their property since you can find them same elsewhere on the web. You print them front and back and cut to size.
Anywhere you see a restriction sign, hand one of these to the owner/manager. And don't spend any money there!

But the great thing about MO, is those signs don't mean diddly. As long as you have a permit, the only way you are in trouble is if you refuse to leave when asked (presuming they have discovered you are carrying concealed).

Same in MN. If they post a compliant sign AND you are asked to leave, you can only be ticketed if you refuse. Even then, it is a petty misdemeanor.

Just another great thing about FL...signs mean nothing.

Actually MO is an open carry state.....but private property owners have the right to decide what happens on their property.

    (shrug) Concealed means concealed.
