Even if the senior partners could care less about what the guy wrote, I expect that issues concerning his ability to handle discovory and the like have come to mind over this. Suppose he were to accidentally send out private communications from an actual client like that.

Our esteemed Mr. Wolf doesn't even know how to forward an e-mail. According to his own standard, he's lower than a wacko!
Oh boy... I hear lawyer jokes coming!!!!

Stop and think about the website of this law firm.
We have one out here, a guy who advertises himself as "The DUI Guy." It's freaking creepy, is what it is. Does anyone here doubt that the overwhelming majority of people who get arrested for drinking and driving are guilty? I mean, a simple breathalyzer will reveal if someone is driving under the influence or not.
Firms that specialize in getting off drunk drivers are nothing but nests of parasites, who profit from helping people escape the consequences when they've done something knowingly and unforgivably wrong.

I asked a lawyer friend of mine about this issue and this was his kind answer:
Nope. Nothing he can do. (Besides write the owner, which was wise.)
He really hasn't suffered "damages" in the legal sense (i.e. lost money or damage to a reputation). The use of the word "wacko" is understood to be a generic statement of opinion -- not like the guy published an ad in the paper saying "Joe Smith is mentally ill."
Amazing what happens when people hit "reply all" isn't it?
You have to make the shot when fire is smoking, people are screaming, dogs are barking, kids are crying and sirens are coming.

That could merit $$ dependent on the topic and sensitivity or confidentiality of the matter. Dependent on the topic, some real money.

"You may think I'm pompous, but actually I'm pedantic... let me explain the difference."
"Carry the battle to them. Don't let them bring it to you. Put them on the defensive and don't ever apologize for anything."

Your friend summed it up pretty well. No way I can think of that you could sue and there isn't really anything I can think of in the Model Rules of Professional Conduct which this would violate. This one goes under the heading of basic jerks.
Most of the Model Rules deal with protecting existing clients and are pretty worthless as they can usually be worked around. The problem with the legal profession today isn't a lack of rules, it is a fairly widespread lack of character and integrity coupled with a goodly amount of greed which has gotten lawyers the rep. they now have. Not condemning all lawyers, (hell, I'll be one if I pass the bar next summer) but I do recognize that there are significant problems within the profession. Once I finish school up, I plan on specializing in CCW and self defense law as soon as I can get my foot in the door so maybe I can hook you guys up in a few years.
All the best,
Joe
