Holster for inside Purse or Bag??

Anyone have a recommendation for a holster that works well inside a purse or bag?

While there are a number of purses specifically made for carry -
My wife would like the convenience of using different purses and bags.

Her favorite CCW is a Sig P239.

Of course, any holster could work - i'm looking for something that has been a little more thought out.

Thanks for the thoughts and input!

    Warmest regards,

    Sigsi Paige

If you're OK w/Kydex, Alabama Holsters make excellent holsters. I wear one of their IWB's every day w/my Glock 19.
Check them out. The owner Greg is very helpful, and very responsive!

I'd not thought of this before, but the Fist pocket holster with the 'thumb push' would be perfect for such a place. This would insure that the holster is not going to come out with the pistol when drawing with one hand.

    Cool

I really feel the best handgun purses are those that have a compartment for the weapon that keeps it seperate from the rest of the items in the purse. I do not like off the body carry but it is the only way my wife will carry on a regular basis. She has several Coronado Leather Purses and they are top quality.

I, as a rule, do not recommend off body carry at all. For the simple reason that, a purse snatching not only robs you of your money, but of your self defense weapon and then puts that gun into the hands of the very criminal you were carrying to to protect yourself from. The best way to maintain control of your gun is to wear it is a quality holster on your body at all times.

The LEO who taught my wife's CCW class recommended against purses. The reason is the BG is going to try to grab that first, now he has a gun. Food for thought.

I understand - but women still carry purses.. they tend to need a few extra things than us.

She hooks the holster loop arund her purse strap, and drops gun down in purse. She is going to on body carry as soon as we find her a suitable holster. LOL Purse carry is ok in cerain situations, but she needs to try on body as a primary. Steer her towards Limatunes videos on You tube or her posts here, or even send her to the Cornered Cat website, dealing with women and CCW.

My girlfriend isnt even carrying yet, but she already realizes what a bad idea off person carry is. Many times while out shopping the purse will be in the shopping cart as she is sifting through clothing racks, etc. Other times if she isn't buying something but looking around, she may just leave the purse in her car and take her car keys in after locking it up.

The problem with women is they generally like more form fitting clothing, and it makes it harder to conceal carry - their wardrobe actually has to be taken into consideration more so than us guys. With the right carry rig & clothing though, I think that would be her best bet. I am not sure where you are at, but since it is at least the cooler months out - you can get away with a light jacket even in the warmer areas and many times thats all that is needed to conceal properly.

If it were me, I wouldn't even bother with the purse carry and "going to body carry once we find the right holster". No point in getting in the habit of purse carry, do it right the first time and get a good on body holster and stick with it.
