    Don't ask.
I did that once with a Ruger P-89 ... trout streams get cold! Hey, at least my hat didn't get wet.

P.S. I just read the explanation about the kayak ... they're built to roll over so just act like you meant to do it. BTW, welcome to the Forum!

I carry a Mil-Spec 1911 an lube with Militec-1. It's a synthetic lube that bonds with the steel as it dries and if you heat it after applying it works even better. Also, since it's essentially a dry lube, doesn't attract dust.

I clean after every range session and give it at least a quick wipe down to clear dust every few days or so. If I go a month without shooting I do a field strip, full wipe down and relube with Militec. I heat each part with a hair dryer before reassembly, dry fire several times, shuffle the carry rounds in the primary mag, load and chamber, top off the mag, do a final surface wipe and it's ready for carry.

I also do a press check every time I put it on and take it off. It's probably a little obessive but I never have to wonder if it's loaded.

Pretty much every time I shoot them. Since I shoot them often, there is no long term storage problems like mud dobber nests in the barrel and so on!!!!

I clean after every shoot, and my carry piece gets cleaned at least every 14 days. I use shooters choice for the bore, CLP for lube, and rem oil/ CLP for cleaning exterior parts. I try to wipe my carry piece down with a gun/reel cloth at the end of every day, especially if it has been hot and ive been sweating all over the thing.

I clean my 1911s after I shoot them which is weekly and wipe them down with a silicone cloth every night.

    When dirty

I clean 2-3 times after firing. Try to wipe down after carrying/handling.

Also every time after I shoot.

However, upon returning home I visually examine the one I carried that day, and if there is anything that need attention (cleaning wiping with oiled wipe) I take care of it before storing in the safe.
