Signs on or around the house?

Not sure if this is the proper forum, so Mods please move this thread as appropriate

Anyways, I'm curious about signage and stuff around the house. We all have seen at one time or the other the "don't worry about the dog beware the owner" stickers and most of us chuckle (ok, at least I do). But now I wonder.... what about signs like that on the house? I have signs warning people that there is a dog on the premises, so if they jump the either of the gates (or force them) they would have seen the sign. Now if I had another sign that said something about armed response/armed owner I wonder if that would not be useful? I know the BG can still enter throug the brick wall I share with other neighbours, but it's not as likely as the gate. So am I better off with a sign (liability wise having placed the warning in plain view) or no sign? I think I will end up having to call a lawyer on that one (since I live in SoCal) but for starters I want to see what you guys think.

I kinda see it as advertising how you want to get sued or robbed. Why do it.

Kinda like putting all those speed shop stickers on your vehicle. Your asking to get busted for speeding or some other traffic violation.

    So why do it.

    Yup...

Not too different from the "Insured by Smith & Wesson" Bumper stickers...Just advertizing that if they were to break in, they are almost likely to find Gunz.

I don't even have an NRA sticker on my car

Gotta agree. Also individuals could claim you pulled a gun on em(since obviously you have em)

My dog trainer told me not to ever post beware of dog signs. She said lawyers will use that in a civil trial to "prove" that you knew your dog was vicious or whatever. Same thing with beware of owner signs or gun signs. You know the ones they say, "Forget Dog Beware of Owner". They have the big revolver on them pointed at the reader. Stuff like that is all fun and such, but not a good idea. It may not come up criminally, but in any civil action it likely will.

I preferred just plain old no trespassing signs. No not the ones that say, "Trespassers will be shot, survivors will be shot again." either. I live in a town now for the first time in a long time, so I don't have any signs. I have the, "good fences make good neighbors," philosophy.

Now that's a really interesting point. Might have to change my dog signs out to the no trespassing signs.

Definitely no signs suggesting guns! In fact most houses around me will almost for sure have guns of some sort so anyone planning a forced entry, if wise, can assume they will meet a firearm.

The one sign I really wish to see tho is the ''This is a gun-free home'' which should be mandatorily shown on gun grabber's houses!

It's probably our mail lady that has most clue about anything to do with guns here, as she will see the occasional gun mag in a delivery.

Alarm company signs deter the basic robbers. They tell the pros which panel you have so they know how to disarm it or defeat it. Probably not a lot of pros casing your place unless you are known to have some very high value items. So no worries for most of us.
