Wow, the woman is very lucky the good Samaritan was driving by. Good outcome! Nice report. I hope the woman isn't disfigured or permanently injured. No doubt it was a harrowing experience.

Good job on the man who ended up shooting the dog!

    Nice job.

Good thing he didn't just call 911 and act as a good witness...

We don't know what led up to the attack, maybe it was an undercover drug dog holding her for the police... maybe she assaulted the dog first... We weren't there at the onset.. Maybe the dog was defending itself. Perhaps if the man had demonstrated to the dog that he saw what was going on, the dog would have just run off...

Or, just shoot the vicious beast and be done with it... Shoot to stop the threat. Yeah, that's the ticket.

Lookin' pretty comfy there Old School!

Sounds terrible for the dog-attack victim. Thanks to the CCW citizen for being decisive and actively involved in stopping the attack.

Good for the samaritan and lucky for the lady that he was passing by and decided to intervene.
I wonder depending on positions, movement, etc, that in come instances a blade might be a better weapon?

I get my canes from Cane Masters and agree with you completely. Martial Cane Concepts is an excellent source of simple easy to use techniques that can be learned by the average old guy like me in a limited amount of time and can be very effective if needed. I still carry my defensive spray though and if walking outside my community my CCF.

The positive (or at least non-negative) spin by the media is somewhat of a surprise here... I'm surprised PETA hasn't reared their head over it, yet.

I think the trouble with certain breeds of dogs, is that given THEIR mindset at the moment, using almost anything but LETHAL means ,only indicates to the animal, YOU want to fight/play.
By the time you determine the circumstances warrant, more lethal measures, you've got a potential problem, and you may already be elbows deep into it.

When someone is already getting mauled, its time for drastic measures.
If someone was ripping the lady's face apart, would you go up to him and whack him with a cane??
