You Can Still Get PA Non Resident By Mail!
Centre County Sheriff has just informed me he is still taking mail in applications for a PA Non Resident License. He is holding off as long as he can. The New law must be in effect around 5/1/2011. So if you want to get a PA Non Resident there is still time. When the mail in stops you will have to make a trip to PA to Apply. That is their new law. He also stated he would try to give 2 or 3 weeks notice before stopping.
You can download and print an application and mail it in.

I think we should send him a mail thanking him for the great job that he was been doing.

What is the advantage of having a non resident license? Pa already has reciprocity with my state.

You are then able to carry in the states that PA has reciprocity with, meaning you might get some more states that your state doesn't currently have reciprocity with.
Also, for those who live in Illinois where no carry is permitted, they can get a PA non resident license and be able to carry when they travel in states PA has reciprocity with.

When Centre County decides to make people show up you will have to go to the Sheriff to Apply or to Renew. On or about 5/1/11 Centre county must abide by the new law and you will have to show up to Apply or Renew. Sheriff Nau is really a down to earth Good Guy. He will go up to the last day unless the state forces him to start earlier. He told me he would try to give a 3 or 4 week notice before cutting off mail in applications and renewals. PA Licenses are cheap and if my PA Non Resident was going to run out in a year or two I would renew now. Gives you more time. In 5 years things might change again.

These guys are fast, too. I sent in my application in December and got the license a little more than a week later.

I did.
When I renew my Nevada license in 2012 I will also get a Florida permit. With PA and Nevada I didn't feel I needed FL before.

Fast is not the word. I mailed in my application on a Friday, and had my Pennsylvania License in hand the next Friday in Michigan's U.P. Thank you Sheriff Nau.

What do they require for 2 sets of prints? The 'system' has more than 6 sets of my prints for various things, and hundreds of sets from a past job that entailed scanning test prints for certain agencies...

My PA doesn't come up for renewal until mid 2012 so this is my question too.

I believe they are now only requiring one print card to be submitted....They use them for the background check.

Renewals will also have to be done in person.
