Anyone know of other offices near Tampa, Sarasota, Brandon?
When I called for an appt in Tampa Sept 7th....the conversation went like this:
Hi, I'm calling to make an appt for CWL.
(response) No problem, earliest we have is 2nd week Oct. But we are holding open after 5pm and you can do that if you like.
OK, do I just come up or do I make an appt.
(response) You have to make an appt.
OK, when is earliest I can come?
(response) Monday 9/10 is available.
OK, can't make it Monday how bout Tuesday at 5:15?
(response) OK see you then.
I walked in and signed in at 415pm...and was out the door at 4:45.
Issued 9/29, in possesion 10/3.
Buddy went to Punta Gorda the day before I had my "appt"....he just received his today :)

I still have not submitted my FL application. I probably will do so at some point. My other 3 states work well for me 98% of the time.

This was for Florida also? 93 days? That seems like an extremely long time.

I had a FL CWP before.
Due to a family situation it lapsed for more than 6 months,
so I had to do the re-apply thing.
I also have NO criminal record, and even had one of those
"scarce as hens-teeth" New Jersey Permit to carry.
I even sent in a photostat of BOTH old permits to carry in addition to my Certification papers just
to make it easier on them.
8/8/12 mailed
8/15/12 processing
10/15/12 still processing
10/24/12 still processing
10/31/12 RECEIVED !
Processing time <in system> 77 days.
The total number of days between Wednesday, August 8th, 2012 and Wednesday, October 31st, 2012
84 days.
Interestingly enough the permit was issued/printed on 10-24-12
I did call the status # and it said "processing" all the way up til last Friday <the 26th>
That was the last time I called.

When I took the class and applied back in 2004 it took about 2 months to get my CCW in the mail, and I recently renewed my permit and it took about 1 month to get in. I live in FL full time.

Florida Permit Turnaround Time - Great Service
My girlfriend applied exactly one month ago in Person at the Fort Walton office (which has moved from its pervious location) and received it in the mail yesterday. She was ecstatic and Walmart walked with her new keltec P3AT.
It's a nice feeling to know that both of us are armed everywhere we go.

If you call and ask about when your license will be approved, they will in all likihood tell you the full 90 days so that you don't call back every week with the "Is my license ready yet?"

Hello, i'm new to this forum. i have been lurking here while i await my florida ccl. i mailed my application out on oct. 3rd, now dec.17th and still being processed. seems like it takes about 3 full months here in florida. no big deal on the wait really, in fact it has given me time to educate myself some about concealed carry. i am a sheriffs deputy corrections officer, have been for 16 years. my boss (the sheriff) recently put out a new general order that said corrections deputys had to have a ccl if they wanted to carry off duty. i carry my dept. issued m&p 40 on duty (outdoor assignment lucky me!) but the sheriff also says we have to use our own weapon for our ccl. sorry this post is so long... but to conclude i would like to thank all other members. i have learned a lot from all of you.

There is only one way to do it if you want your Florida CWFL in a shorter time period, make an appointment at a regional office. On average, if there are no problems in your background check, the wait is about three weeks. Four friends applied, two by regional office the end of Oct. and received their CWFL the last week in Nov. The other two mailed their applications the end of Oct and are still waiting. I am quite sue the turn around times will increase because of the increased talk about a weapons ban.

Just a piece of advice for those of you that sent your application to Tallahassee. I sent mine on October 1, 2012 they received it on the Oct 4th. I called after the 8 week mark and was told they were still working on September because they are back logged and people are working overtime etc..... They also said they were trying to change their recording to reflect this. After a few days I decided to call again and talked to a nice female on the phone and told her my concerns about the wait times and I didn't think it was right to have a recording that stated 6-8 weeks and then not have it. She said she understood. She asked me for my SS number which I gave her and she said everything came back clean. I said not sure why I have not received it. She also said as soon as it is live scanned for prints they are checked within 48 hours so mine was just sitting there doing nothing. Hope his helps some of you try to call and get a nice person and dont be angry on the phone it worked for me. I also said I didn't think it was right especially non residents obtaining theirs before Fla residents. She said I could have taken it to a regional office and it would be faster. I said at the time I took my class we were not told of regional office and we were given a packet to be mailed to Tallahassee. She said she understood and would try to help me. I thanked her for her time and effort. I called the automated number 2 hours later and it said it was issued, printed , and mailed. I should get it in a day or so. Hope this helps some of you. Call on the phone, be nice and polite if possible.
