Happy and yet embarrased!
I had reported my 40cal xd-sub stolen to the police about a month ago. I left the house in the morning and put it under my seat and when I got home it was gone. Figured someone quikcly looked in there around the front, saw it and ran.
So I bought a new gun last weekend, an xd45 service model and also bought a safe for it in the truck. Neat little safe, has a cable that goes through say a seat mount or bar or some sort and once its closed the cable is locked. Well yesterday I wanted to move it from where I put in the front of the drivers seat to the back so I get out and wait for my slow ass electric seat to move forward and feel around under the seat and I dont feel anything to hook the cable to so I move my sub out of the way and squeeze my head in between the sub and the seat to look under and what the do you think I found?? My xd40 subcompact!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The damn thing was all sqeezed up into the seat, I guess I moved the seat that day and it pushed it up into the seat and of course I just think the worst thing first. I wish I would have found it before I bought another gun but I am so damn happy, I was so worried that some idiot was going to do something stupid with my gun.
Overall a good experience because now I take the safety measure of locking it in the truck so someone cant do a smash and grab. Unfortunantly I dont know if I want to keep the xd45 now because it doesnt fit me as well as the subcompact when I carry on my hip...the butt pokes out a bit with the 45.

Glad you found it and it isn't running around with some bad guy.

True enough - our first reaction is to assume theft!
I forget the details but had a similar instance - not car seat oriented but actually just a case of having put the gun down and forgotten where briefly (in house) - so assumed when it wasn't in old location it had gone! Feeling of horror - abject horror!
But oh the relief after re-discovery.
Relieved for you - so now you have an extra pistola huh - well, don't get rid of it even if not ideal for carry - I mean, there is a great house gun/night stand gun!!!
BTW - spaced your post into a few para's to make reading easier!!!

You just gave me an excuse to give the wife for a new pistol!
Seriously, glad everything worked out for you.

Speakle - Sorry you got embarrassed; but more so; Glad you haven't moved your seat around too much and managed between then & now to "Blow you A--.. off..!

Just let me know your address, so my FFL can send you a shipping label, and I'll make sure that the "stolen" XD40 remains missing. Or, if you'd prefer to keep it and get rid of the XD45, that's OK, too.
Heck, if you'd like to just make life a lot easier and send'em BOTH to me, that's OK, too....

That must have been a relief!!! Glad it worked out....I think you should keep the .45 and start an XD Collection.

Keep the .45! It could be a good second gun if you need (or want) to send the sub in for work (e.g. new sights, etc.) and a good house and range gun otherwise. I SO want one!
