    CC During Winter Recreation

My wife and I just moved to Colorado a few months ago. The main reason is because I love the mountains and just couldn't stand Wisconsin anymore. Well, we are going snowshoeing tomorrow for our first time! I was worried about how I was going to carry, because I wasn't going to have a belt on, so a belt holster was out of the question. I don't have any shoulder holsters, and I didn't want to put it in my Camelback. Then I remembered I have a SmartCarry holster! So I was trying it out tonight to see how it will work. I must say, it works pretty well! I'm excited to know that while we are out snowshoeing tomorrow, I'll be able to protect us should the need arise. The SmartCary holster also has a nice spot for a 2nd magazine.

So I'm just curious, how does everyone else carry during their winter recreation (skiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, etc.)? Or do you even carry at all?

Here's some pictures of me....unfortunately since everything is black, it's very hard to see. The snow pants are big enough it seems like I could hide anything under them!

For winter, xcountry skiing (don't do downhill anymore) or snow shoeing I wear jeans with snow pants over so I wear a belt holster.

Jeans just didn't feel comfortable for me with the snow pants over, so instead I'm wearing basically under armour trousers and long sleeve shirt.

All my pants use a belt. I wear my normal owb holsters. If you need to get to you gun (which is very unlikely) you will not be able to access it quickly inside your pants. If you take a tumble with it inside your pants it will hurt. Put it in one of your parka pockets. One that can be closed with a zipper or snaps. You can use a belt with your snow pants. Just use it like a duty belt.

P.S. Carry plenty of water and drink it. It will help you avoid altitude sickness and dehydration.
