The sad thing is he will be fired for protecting his and the other workers lives. But GOOD on him for taking care of the bad guys! At least he's alive to look for a better job.

schj98, thanks for this post. I missed this one in the paper. Although I don't live in that area, it's close enough (50 miles is close enough in my book) that I can drop a printed copy in front of my wife while she's sipping her morning coffee and, well, I can try to justify the purchase of more hardware.

Seems like it's always Sugar Creek Road. I sure hope Subway doesn't fire the guy, I like eating at my local one and would hate to have to stop going.

The mews clip indicated that the shooter was the owner. Both written reports say either clerk or employee.

Having grown up in CLT, I know too well how rough many sections of it can be. It's the only place among many where I've lived that I've had a gun shoved in my face. The area where I lived and hung out is, shall we say ... uninhabital. My daughter lives there now and has the blind eye toward the dangers. Hopefully the fellow keeps his job.

From the first link: ""We were eating supper, and we had about 10 gunshots go off, so we ran to the door and could see across the street, somebody shooting," Abernathy told NewsChannel 36. "He kept going around the corner, shooting.""

I just hope that wasn't the good-guy chasing and firing.
    Otherwise, good deal.

I don't know, but I had a sinking feeling when I read that. I sure hope the restaurant employee stayed in the restaurant and didn't continue to fire at a fleeing suspect.

Based on what I have seen from Char/Meck PD, as long as the BG was shooting they will likely not bother pressing charges. There was a homeowner chased some kids that broke into his home. He cut off their escape, kid points gun at him, homeowner shoots and kills the kid. No charges. This is the 3rd clerk shoots BG story from the Charlotte area in the last 6 mths or so. I think they are getting tired of being robbed.
