Anti-gun stuff going on RIGHT NOW, on air, KGGO FM, Des Moines

I don't post very often, but listening to the radio online right now, KGGO.COM. They are having a discussion about Iowa's new gun laws, not a good one either.

I actually called in, never done that before, expressed my opinion very politely and professionally. Guess who didn't get on the air...

Now theres a poll, check it out, KGGO.COM. Look at the options they give you, complete garbage.

I sent a note in online as well and suggest anyone here who feels the same sends one in as well.

I also included the fact that I am going to have to find a new radio station...

EDIT: Now the DJ's are saying that Iowa will revert back to wild west days where every MAN openly carries a weapon, WOMEN have no rights, people get shot for no reason, and the average life expectancy is 35 years! It's official, I'm getting a new station... Is anyone else out there hearing this crap?

EDIT #2, OK, they are listening to my complaints! I'm surprised but they actually just sent me an email and said they were changing the options. I just refreshed the page, www.KGGO.com, and the poll now has new options. One includes "It doesn't bother me". I guess now I can vote.

Along the same line...They did a skit on Saturday night live on the news portion. Seth Myers said our fore fathers who wrote the second amendment never could of imagined the guns that are available today. When they wrote the constitution the only guns were primitive black powder. 2A was written when they didn't even know about such things as ready made bullets and rapid fire guns. He implied that the constitution was written so long ago that 2A is outdated and if the fore fathers could see up to date advancements in gun technology they might modify 2A.

You might want to tell the DJ that the "wild west" and it's violence is really a myth sold to us by the media/movies. The northeast was a far more violent part of the country during that time period. Something like 30 murders per 100k people/per year vs the "wild west" of 1 murder per 100k people/per year.

Voted, it's now 80 don't care. I'll bet you dollars to doughnut that if this poll doesn't go the way they like it, it will never be mentioned on the air.

    Find a new station.

Voted - 81% aren't bothered by a gun. Going up by the minute. Thanks for posting and we're glad to help out in the poll! With a poll like this I hope they realize that they just alienated 80% of their listening audience by being so anti-gun.

If you saw someone with a gun in a public place, what are you more than likely to do?

    Leave the establishment 5%

Nothing, It doesn't bother me 83%

I won't go in a place that allows guns 2%

Tell the manager regardless if the place has a rule against it or not 6%

    Tackle the person 5%

I bet they really hated to add the Nothing, it doesn't bother me option. They knew it would get all the votes, which is why they probably omitted it to begin with.

Is that the "I saw myself in a mirror with a gun"? :)

Poleclimber, nice catch, I never thought about that! Thanks for voting everybody. They said the poll would be on the website until tomorrow morning. They got such a large response to the topic that they are going to talk about it again on tomorrows morning show. You can listen live to the streaming right thru the website, which is where I listen since I am not close enough to Des Moines to hear it otherwise. Might be worthwhile to take it in tomorrow and see how the opinions go...I may give them a second chance to keep me as a listener. I have been sending emails back and forth to the DJ's this morning and it seems like maybe their on-air opinions are for ratings only, which doesn't make it right and I have let them know how I feel. I am impressed that they listened enough to change the poll options. We'll see what happens tomorrow, there are still plenty of other stations out there!

    Thanks again for voting everybody!
