    Cool

I like your observations and am glad you decided to come to DC Forum. Of course there are many fine firearms aside from Glocks and owning a Glock is not required to be a forum member as long as you understand you will never be completely accepted without at least one. (LOL)

First, and probably foremost, this remains the most civil forum of it's type that I've found. The discourse here is friendly, new members are warmly welcomed, and any disagreement is based on opinion or fact, not simply emotion (for the most part). I lurk much more than I actually post...

Second, this is a TREMENDOUS resource for those starting their journey after deciding to take more personal responsibility in defending themselves, their families, and their property. It never ceases to amaze me when someone posts some random question about a rare gun, and the collective brains of the group break it down over a matter of a couple of hours. The same can be said for experienced members that are looking for something new, sharing their experiences, or tweaking a practice that could help others.

Third, I learn just as much and have just as much fun with the non-firearm related discussions on the forum. Threads that come to mind include watches, whiskey, coffee, jeeps, etc., etc., etc... This is a great group of guys and gals.

Fourth, Everyone has differing opinions about gun, caliber, carry method, etc. It's all OK, and it all beats a pointed stick (although there is a forum page that would address the proper way to employ a pointed stick and who makes the best one). I found many others like me that are perfectly happy and confident in their abilities with a J frame .38 in the pocket.

In a nutshell, I just wanted to tell the DC members thanks for the ride, and I look forward to my next 500 posts.

    Cheers!

PS. You guys still haven't talked me into a Glock, but it ain't for a lack of trying...
The bold part of this post says somuch. in one sentence. It absolutely is the most civil and well moderated forum out there. Makes me proud to be a member.

    Now that's funny!

I agree this is by far the most informative gun sight (pun intended if it's in there somewhere) on the internet. Sure there are some discussions that tend to get heated, caliber wars or when is the correct time to draw in certain situations. I try to take everyone's point of view mix it all together pour it into my brain and see what floats to the top.

As far as the Glock, I thought it was manditory to purchase one BEFORE you were allowed to post your 1,000th post. At least that's what someone told me!

+2! I have a Glock 30 now but only because the price was right (free)!

Nice post. This forum is the best I've found. At one time I was on five different gun related forums and this is the only one I still frequent.

I regularly refer my own students be they toward hunting, combat or sporting/recreational to this forum.
In fact just this morning I was doing same by e-mail to yet another...And will be doing so again later this evening toward a newly referred student of mine (civilian SD/HD).

I've nothing else to say about this forum that hasn't been stated by the OP and folks as follow on.

Ya know all hand guns have a purpose they are tools, Pick the one for the job.
A Glock is like a Honda it is reliable; it will get the job done, and last a million miles. If you want a Lexus (SIG) you better break out the cash and it will the same. But now if you want a Cadillac (Wilson Combat CQB) that will do it all, and some, drain your bank account. Not bashing on any of these just saying. I have all three they all have a purpose.

    Cam,

I really do agree with your thoughts and observations, I belong to a bunch of forums on various subjects including hunting, shooting, knife making, gunsmithing, etc. This is the ONLY one I visit and post in daily! That is definitely a rousing endorsement from the Duke!

Indeed, it's 3:30 am, and I come here to relax. Truly a great bunch of folks here. Funny that you all happen to carry guns.
