In the news guy get robbed and gun stolen

There was a news story last night and the guy was robbed at gunpoint and apparently had his firearm stolen from him as well as his other things. The officer telling the story said "that is why you should not carry guns.

What do you guys think about this scenario what do you do if someone gets the drop on you. Maybe he should have been more aware of his surroundings.

When that officer is willing to perform his job without his firearms then maybe I will consider his point.

I think I once read a similar story here, but doesn't matter. I'm sure it happens now and again. If someone gets the drop on you its tough. A gun is just one tool, and no substitute for taking care of taking care.

The officer's comment is just his opinion. Its a bit like telling people not to carry credit cards because they'll get stolen if you are robbed.

I don't know about the rest of you here, but my "nightmare" scenario is someone getting the drop on me, the BG has no firearm, and takes mine and uses it against me. I know all the SA scenarios and hypothetical possibilities that come up but I'm wondering what active steps you take be it other self-defense techniques, holstering, etc. that you use to avoid my worst case scenario.

That's going to depend on your perception of the incident, its potential to be lethal to you and your willingness to go "all in".

How did the BG know he had a gun. Was it the CCW badge?

Somebody has the drop on me, I figure I'm already dead. I'm not going to die alone.

I laughed out loud at that one!

The cop has a stupid opinion. Lots of people have them, doesn't make him right just because he's wearing a badge when he says something stupid.

Why is there no link to the story, video or anything?
What state and city at the very least did this occur in?

Drawing against the drop is bad ju-ju... the alternative could be worse. You just have to ask yourself, "Do you feel lucky? Well? Do you, PUNK?"
"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one Nation indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
You are not paranoid if They are actually out to get you, however, They probably are not and you probably are.
