1st LEO encounter
For the first time since I got my carry permit 4 years ago I got pulled over today.
Motorcycle cop pulled up next to me then fell in behind and lit me up. Just as I figured, he was pulling me over for not wearing my seat belt.
I keep my permit under my DL in my wallet and as I pulled the DL out he saw the carry permit. When I handed the license to him he asked if it was the same as the 'other' one.
I told him the other one was my concealed carry permit.
He said "Oh, okay".
He never asked if I was carrying or if I had a weapon in the car. Just gave me a ticket and told me to buckle up and have a nice day.
I'm a child of the 60's, but I got over it.

OMG! he didnt have to disarm you to protect himself from a law abiding citizen (minus the no seatbelt) This is how it should be. I figure a cop has more chance to shoot me, than me shooting a cop. I would feel safer if he was disarmed when he approached me instead.

Nice stop, congrats. I still havent gotton a citation while carrying my permit. I wonder what the statistics are, if cops are less likely to cite you or not if you are legally carrying.

- I doubt it. The police officer isn't your buddy and a firearms permit isn't going to change that. If anything, your demeanor and attitude will influence the police officer's response more than anything else.
I've been pulled over three times since obtaining my permit over a decade ago. Once for a headlight that was out, twice for speeding (45 in 35 and 60 in 50). I did NOT inform the officer during any of those stops. I did turn on my interior lights and was extremely polite. I was let off all three times with just a warning.

LEO don't view a CHP (or whatever your state calls it) as a "get out of jail free" card. If they have decided your getting a ticket, your going to get one. Being polite and courteous with them gives you a better chance of not getting a ticket, or a reduced ticket.

Me either. He did not disarm me though.

You have a lot less chance of a warning with a motor cop..same with highway patrol..ticket writing machines..nothing personal..just what they do..
