Daytona Bike Week and Being armed.

Hello all. I am headed to my first bike week and have brushed up on FL CC laws. Two questions.

#1 What is FLs stance on printing?

#2 Anyone been to Daytona for bike week and what was the risk factor?

    Thanks all for any input.

Personally the rule of avoiding stuipid people and bad places comes to the forefront.

I would make sure that I didn't print at all, too many people in to small an area, I would not want to be relieved of my weapon by a group of less than desirable people. Now as for me I'll be carrying a P238 in my front pocket.

I believe printing is a problem in FL unless they got their OC law through - which I don't think they have yet.

    1. Printing is not illegal.

    2. Risk factor is just the same with being in large crowds.

    Have fun, be safe.

Printing is not illegal, but remember that Bike week is about bikes, booze and chicks (pick your order). The omnipresent bars are a definite no go for CC.

You cannot comprehend the scale of Daytona Bike Week, the number of bikes and the huge area it sprawls over, until you see it. There are many different venues - bars, vendors, bike shows, various competitions, entertainment, races, you name it! Needless to say, lot's of alcohol, loud music and rowdiness are to be expected. It is a party atmosphere. Even so, it is generally a very civil and polite crowd. LOT'S of law enforcement presence and they are very tolerant and friendly. There are inevitably motorcycle accidents and motorcycle thefts and, undoubtedly, other petty thefts. Violence is not an issue. I rate the risk factor very low, surprisingly low.

Correct - as a group the Bike Week crowd is quite respectful and law-abiding. You might carry on the trip down (check state laws), but once there I'd lock it up in the hotel.

Thanks for the replies. I will be carrying on the way down and suppose I will lock it up while there.

Actually, I feel pretty safe in the company of bikers. PM Old School, as he is a lawman in Fla and can give you some technical info.

Ditto. It's been a while since I've been to one, but I never felt threatened at any time. And not carrying let me join in on the "festivities".

Yep, I agree--I feel safer with a bunch of bikers at a ralley than I do at the local WallyWorld.

I have spent at least 5 bike weeks in daytona when I was stationed in fla and going to college there from about 92 to 96. never had an issue. There are no biker gang fights there, that is a myth, they are well behaved.... unless you stay at one of the campgrounds out of city limits and then it gets wild. Stay away from there and you will be good. I miss the motorcycle demolition derby at new smryna speedway, I participated in it in 94, best time of my life.
