Trip to Sporting Goods Store

Went to a mid/large sporting goods store to get snap caps, cleaning supplies in the morning. No signs whatsoever about guns not allowed and of course they have a medium size firearms department and a gun smith on site. So I wore a black polar fleece jacket with heavy/large zipper pockets. Inside pocket holster I have my Ruger Sp101. I wasn't printing, but had I been somewhere else it would assume to a cell phone or large wallet?. Anyway I walk back there, the guy at the counter looks at me, then looks down. Then he jumps to my assistance, helps me find what I need, as I browse around a co-worker of his asks me if I need anything else. I really got the vibe that these guys were really uneasy and wanted me to get what I needed and get on my way. Not sure what to think about it. I know I'm a good guy and would only ever fire it if facing a threat to my life or my wife or kids....kinda made me feel scummy after I left. And odd considering what they do there and sell.

Sounds like you may be thinking too much into things. My local sporting goods store will make someone come out to the parking lot if you are bringing a gun in for whatever reason (warranty repair, ect), and they will escort you in while carrying your firearm. There are no signs posted that say they don't allow firearms in their store. I CC in there all the time. ...Not that I could get in trouble even if they had signs (GA law). So... if no one even asked you about your firearm, what are you upset about? Even if they were uneasy because they spotted you printing or something, I don't see why you really even care. It's your right to your own protection.

I acted weird? I had my wife and kid there, we strolled around the store. I'm not that bothered by this, I'm just noting the differences between going to a fill blown gun shop and a sporting goods store with a firearms department. Two very different vibes.

Ruger guy ,, Are you new to carry'n? sounds like it. After sometime you will not even think about carry'n and just do it. As natural as get'n out of bed. DON'T move that gun around. Pick a carry locacation that works year round to carry and holster ,put it there and leave it alone. That will help with the head games too.
