An envelope from the Indiana State Police showed up in the mail today
Actually, two. One had my wife's name on it and one had my name on it. I was excited to say the least since we have been waiting for our permits to arrive since we filled out everything and mailed it off on the 14th of January.
So I grabbed them and hurried inside to open them up and when I did, what I saw was not what I expected. Not permits but a form telling me that our permit applications could not be completed because there was a form missing. Stapled to the back of the letter was the form that my wife and I each need to fill out and send back in.
I called the number listed on the letter to ask a couple of questions and it seems that the town clerk didn't send in everything when she processed it all. I specifically remember filling this form out when we did everything, she just didn't send it in with everything for some reason.
End result is, this will most likely add another 2 to 4 week to the wait time for our permits to be issued!
This is not helping me overcome the deep and seething hatred for the state of Indiana that has developed since moving here a little less than a year ago. In fact, it has made it worse.

Damn! Makes me wonder if the clerk's omission was intentional.

I thought the same thing but, she didn't seem off put by us coming in to get the permits at all. In fact she said she does several of them a week and was very friendly. I think it was just an oversight on her part. I will not blame her for what I think is a simple error but it sure is frustrating.

Mike, I am sorry that a mistake was made but, do you really have to bash this State So much? Try living in a state like Maryland (I did for 10 yrs), Then you will have something to complain about. Both of our State laws are similar (with minor differences). As soon as I moved back to IN, I applied and received mine in 5 weeks.
I "do" understand you missing home, as I would if I would if I was living in Tennessee.

I really don't think that a mistake like this would only happen in IN, that it would never occur in TN. I have been carrying in IN for about 20yrs and never had any problem with the license process, and now with my "life-time" license I'll never will.

Reminds me of when we had to get our daughter's passport. The PO folks were nice, just incompetent. They put her date of birth as the date the application was filled out on their transmittal form. Mind you the actual application was properly completed. We ended up having to get our congressman's office involved to get the dang passport issued.

Tough luck Mike.
Are you able to carry with another permit while you wait?
CCW permit holder for Idaho, Utah, Pennsylvania, Maine and New Hampshire. I can carry in your country but not my own.

Ditto. I have a daughter and two grandsons in the "peoples republic of ILL" that I will not even go visit because I would have to leave my gun at home in Ohio or with someone in Indiana before I crossed the IL border.
Yah, I know, federal law and all that about transporting. But that doesn't cover if I stop and spend the night. So I see them when they come to Ohio. There are a lot worse places to live than Indiana. By the way, I grew up and graduated from high school in Gary, IN--a good place to be "from"---FAR "from"!
