Very sorry for your loss. I agree, no parent should ever have to bury a child. I lost my brother to a drunk driver when he was 18 and I saw what it did to my parents. I wouldn't wish that on my enemies. You are right, you will ALWAYS be her Dad. BTW, how did sentencing go yesterday? I hope they threw him under the jailhouse.

No man should loose his child - especially his little girl. Sorry for your loss.

I am so sorry for your loss. I can't even begin to imagine the pain to lose a child. I have two and they are everything to a parent. I am choked up thinking about you in court looking at this individual and trying to get your thoughts out about your loss. Keep those good thoughts about your daughter in your heart as she will always be with you!!! Nothing can prepare you for such an ordeal. As you know folks here are like extended family!
God Bless you and your family

Thank you. Your comment is very true and I have drawn some strength from all who are on here. Even just the fact that many people read the thread and do not comment gives me comfort. I hope it helps them.

You all need to reassure your families of what you have and if it is not as you want it, fix it! Bob

It's the call every parent dreads and I'm very sorry for your loss.

One of the most fearful experiences of my life was driving up to the scene of a head-on collision between my daughter, with two of my grandkids in the car, and drunk driver with no license (illegal alien but that's another story) that drove across the median in his drunken stupor and slammed into her car. I don't know what the combined speeds of the cars were (speed limit was 40 mph on this road) but the airbags and seat belts help them avoid any critical injuries.

Wow, sorry to hear about your loss! Glad to hear that you're handling it well, though, as I can only imagine.

Maybe the continuance will be a good thing: time for you to practice and better prepare your statement, and they may decide to give him even more time if he gets off easy on the other charges. Best of luck!

Sorry for your loss. No one should lose a child. I hope his sentencing helps you to get past the loss.

There are other things that he has done and gotten sideways over. To me, he is just a bad guy.

They had another charge of DUI Vehicular homicide that the jury did not find him guilty on. It will reduce his penalty by as much as ten years. They had so much technical information on alcohol and drugs in a person, that I think they were overwhelmed on that count.

To you guys and gals who say thoughts and prayers, THANKS. I am not looking for sympathy. Just a few comments to make you all think.

    First, don't drink and drive!

    Second, see first!

Third, Just go hug your loved ones and don't ever forget how fragile we all are. Tears as I say this.........

I am OK! I will always be the Dad of a beautiful daughter who was killed by a ("drunk", not legally by the jury) guy on a crotch rocket. She was his passenger.Oh, how fortunate I am that I have another daughter that just turned 20 now. She and I took our concealed carry class together when she was just past 18 and loved it. She came to see me the other day and I said "you know that you will be 21 in a few months". Her reply was a quick jump in the air and excitedly saying "I can get my concealed permit then" Can you say PROUD DAD?

Again, thanks for all of you out there. I was not part of this when it all went bad that day in Oct 2007. I joined later when daughter #2 and I got involved in guns. I have learned from you all and not said much. That is my style.

#2 and I have a lot of fun and she can back me up any time. Our instructor is creative in setting things up to put stress on you and she always shines.

    Thanks. Bob

    Sorry for your loss.
I too know the feeling of someone close, gone too soon.
My 13 yr old brother died in 1976 when I was 16.
Still think about him , and what could have been.

If I'm reading your post above correctly, she was riding on the back of his motorcycle?
Knowing he had too much to drink?
    If so,,,,,
Hopefully we can all use this this as a stark reminder to all our loved ones, to NOT drive/ride with anyone who is drunk.

Anyway,, The guy does sound like bad news and hopefully he does a long stint.

I am sorry for your loss as well. It will never go away. Just sits a little farther back in your mind. I do not have the years behind me that you do in your loss, but i think I understand.

Yes, she was the passenger and she was also drinking. She has some fault in her death. Several bad choices were made that evening, resulting in her death.

You are quite correct in your last comment that I quoted.

My prayers and condolences go out to you. As hard as it is to loose a loved one, I can't imagine the pain of losing a daughter. You are an inspiration to us. You show us that no matter how bad things get, we must appreciate all the blessings we still have.

Hope you are able to make lemonade out of the lemons that have invaded your life. I pray God keeps His hand on you and your family. My daughter turns 16 this week and we begin her adventure into driving.

My thoughts to you and your family. It sounds like a tragedy all the way around. You sound so strong, I'm sure your daughter would be proud.

    Take care.
