Traveling from Florida to Nebraska
We have a wedding to attend this summer in Nebraska.
To drive there, we must go thru the peoples republic of Illinois.
So, my Fl permit is good in all the other states except Il. If I put my EDC in a case, unloaded, and lock it in the trunk or rear compartment of the SUV, and bring it back out after transiting IL, am I legal?
I am trying to determine if they have a peacible journey statute.
We DO NOT intend to stop in that state.
The other alternative is to fly, but I imaging that would be a real P.I.T.A. to do...

Flying or driving is not a big deal at all. If you fly check with your airline on checking firearms. If you drive, unload and secure the weapon.
It's not the destination, it's the journey.

Well at least when you get here to Nebraska we are a fairly gun friendly state.

I definitely think I would plan a route to "avoid" Illinois...I feel confident you can find a more "gun friendly" route to follow. JMO
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

Yep, I just ran a search through Google maps and it suggested two routes that go nowhere near Illinois.
CCW permit holder for Idaho, Utah, Pennsylvania, Maine and New Hampshire. I can carry in your country but not my own.

When passing through MO just keep the weapon loaded and concealed on or near you.................................... That's why I like MO!!!
It's not the destination, it's the journey.

Nope, I do it all the time, even across the US/Canadian border.
A quick
will find lots of threads on the topic.

I live in Alabama and my dad lives in Omaha. Go through Memphis and up to KC. Going up through Illinois takes forever and is BORING when driving.

Flying into ANY Chicago airport is a bad idea! Eventhough we have the Supreme Court ruling that Chicago's handgun ban is unconstitutional they are VERY strict on hand guns in Chicago! I tell you this because we lived in Naperville (suburb of Chicago) for 2 years and I would not want to be anywhere near the gun unfriendly land of Chicago or Cook county! Driving is best, the folks in southern IL are much better and driving with your gun under lock and the magazine and bullets seperated is the best idea when going through the Peoples Republic of IL!
If Guns kill people then all of mine are defective!
My idea of gun control is using BOTH hands!
Permits in: ND (resident), CT, UT, FL, AZ & MN
North Dakota Concealed Carry Instructor
