I don't know if I want .gov in my business. If they pass this, the antis get a step closer to taking our right to carry altogether.

I see nothing seriously wrong with the way this is worded. I think it would be a step in the right direction.

Yea, keep the federal government out of it. They have a hard enough time just spending what they take in, let alone managing CCW licenses. I think it would be better to just leave it at the state level.

The old adage, be careful what you ask for, you may get it. We really don't need federal government getting into the controlling who can and can not have a firearm. We need the individual states to step up and correct the current errors.

This sounds good but it sets a precedence also. This is what worries me.

So, unless I'm mistaken, this is supposed to let someone who hold a CWP carry in any state without getting a "non-resident permit" or the like?

I'm worried too. We need to have Wisconsin and Illinois on board before we decided to fire on the Federalists again.

Yeah I do have mixed feelings on this one. This is something that should be able to happen without the feds at all. I do see it as constitutionally legitimate under the 14th and 2nd amendments though, and if it were to pass I would be leaning much more on the side of celebration for it.

No, this is like granting reciprocity for all states that issue concealed carry permits. So your permit would be good in any state that issues permits to their residents.

Laws are like Bible books. They are written in a complete context (a whole statute or a whole book) and then put into action in bits and parts (words and verses.) therefore serving as "the way" when not really carrying out the intent of the original document/statute. No matter how the "whole" is worded, individual sentences/verses can later be used out of context and really bite you.

Read some of the USSC decisions. They never quote the whole statute, only words and phrases extracted from it. Many decisions have been based simply on the interpretation of one word in a long statute.

I am against any Federal "meddling" in the reciprocity issue. Leave it up to the states.

True, government does know how to screw something up royally. Best to leave it in the hands of the states and keep federal government out of it. Once they get their hands in the pot, the whole stew will be ruined.

Perhaps I will have to eat my words, but I think that this bill is not good at all. I hope it does not pass.

I get enough reciprocity with my FL CWP. I'd rather have the states iron out their reciprocity agreements than dictated by DC. Obamacare ring a bell?
