    Carrying Concealed in Ohio Restaurants

I saw this article today from the NRA:

Some gun owners could carry concealed firearms into establishments where alcohol is served under a bill passed by the Ohio Senate. The Senate voted 25 7 Wednesday to allow people to carry concealed guns into restaurants or bars as long as the license holder does not drink any alcohol. The measure would still ban people from carrying a firearm into any establishment that clearly prohibits concealed weapons on the premises.

Does anyone know when this will be official? I'm heading to Ohio Saturday and would love to carry when I go out to dinner.

Won't be that quick. Still has another place to go before the governor gets it on his desk. This same bill died last time but the gop runs both the house and senate this time so a bit better luck, but our governor is not the most firearm friendly guy in office.

Still needs to get passed by the State House, and signed off by the governor. Then its usually 90 days for the law to take effect.

Thanks for the info. I thought it might not be that easy. My son lives in Cleveland and when we head there to visit I have to lock my gun in the car. Looking forward to not having to do that. Let's hope your Gov makes it happen.

That's why I like MO! Not only can you enter a place that serves alcohol, you can consume alcohol while carrying your weapon. You just cannot be impaired while carrying.
Now, I don't drink so it really doesn't matter at all to me.

Similar here in NY. We can carry in a restaurant or bar and have a beer if we so desire.

Although our govenor has a lousy record when it comes to gun legislation, I did read a blurb in the paper a while back that he has said he will sign the bill if it comes to his desk. Now the House just has to get it scheduled and vote on it.

Its been sitting in the house for over a month with no vote. Meanwhile they have been voting daily on what to name bridges and how to rename the med school.

I'm still trying to figure out who actually voted for this (unprintable) idiot. No one I know admits to it.

Risking going into forbidden political topics, we'll just say that they letter at the end of his name aided a lot of knee jerk reactions after the last elections.
