    Got my CCW today!

I got a call this morning from the Sherif's department - my CCW permit was ready today. Went down immediately and picked it up. It only took two weeks here in NC (Wake County). Now the really responsible part starts .... I'm glad this forum is here to help out.

    Excellent news indeed

Now just the mandatory WalMart trip - with optional Natchos to follow and you'll be fully signed up

On the serious note - remember as I say so often - carry with pride and loads of responsibility. Up your situational awareness, avoid hassles and upheavals with Joe Public - and enjoy feeling ''empowered''.

Read back thru one or two threads we have had on first time carry and in particular PT-111's excellent post - which is within this thread -

    P95Carry -

Thanks for the info. The first thing I did was to load the 1911 and place it in close proximity in my car as I rode back to work. What a great feeling!

Congratulations. WOW two weeks. We have 90 days in SC, just across the boarder. I'm looking at October but hopefully sooner.

    Gunstogo -

Sorry bout the 3 month wait! I thought two weeks went by slowly. It reminded me of when I was a little kid and Christmas was two weeks away - a veritable eternity.

Try 107 days. That' how long it took for my first permit in Michigan. My renewal took less time, and I credit that to the change from the old style fingerprint system to digital printing. Mostly. ;)

My renewal took about 43 days. Still, too long in my opinion.

Near Charlotte, NC (Mecklenburg County it took six weeks to get the appointment to fill out the application and get finger printed. 83 days after filling out the application the permet arrived. When I picked it up the date on it was for one month prior. When I asked about that, I was simply told that they hold them...sometimes for the full 90 days because they can.
