    This could be me

A policeman pulled over a pickup truck owner for a faulty tail light. When the officer approached the driver, the man behind the wheel handed the officer his driver's license, insurance card, and a concealed-weapon carry permit.

The officer took all the documents, looked them over and said, "Mr. Smith, I see you have a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Do you have any weapons with you?"

The driver replied, "Yes sir, I have a .357 handgun in a hip holster, a .45 in the glove box, and a .22 derringer in my boot."

The officer looked at the driver and asked, "Anything else?"

"Yes sir, I have a Mossberg 500 12-gauge and an AR-15 behind the seat."

The officer asked if the man was driving to or from a shooting range and the man said he wasn't, so the officer bent over and looked into the driver's face and said, "Mr. Smith, you're carrying quite a few guns. May I ask what you are afraid of?"

Mr. Smith locked eyes with the officer and calmly answered, "Not a damn thing!"

    Always nice to be prepared.

Sounds like my pickup except I have a Remington 870 and a G23 instead of the Mossberg 500 and .45

In TX, a pick up is called your gun safe.

Here in NYS, i dont think you can have a loaded long gun in the vehicle, even if you have your CCW. I personally would not want the civil responsibility of someone breaking into my car and toting off with a shotgun, kill someone, and then get sued because i did not have it secured. maybe it is different in other states. With me its either loaded and on my person, or locked away in the gun safe. Bunker

Too funny. I love it. Reminds me of the Matrix at the metal detector. Always good to have an extra gun or two.
It's not a problem til they make it one!

In the rest of the world, a locked car is secured, but who knows in NY. Breaking into a locked car is no different than breaking into a locked home.

There is no way to argue that logic.

    Sounds like overkill to me.

Here in Nebraska the pistols would be legal but the loaded long guns would not.

Unfortunately, in NYS, you can be sued in a civil court if someone stels any of your firearms and murders someone with them. Gun safe in car, and gun safe at home is the only logical way to secure firearms in my part of the world... just the way it is. Part of getting your carry premit kinda includes that you have a secure way of keeping your firearms in your car locked when you cannot have them on your person... crazy world, but move one county west of mine, and they hand out NO carry permits. Go figure. Bunker

I was OCing one night in a convenience store and the clerk said as she looked down at my revolver, "Expecting trouble?" and I replied, "No ma'am, if I were expecting trouble I'd have brought my shotgun." She busted out laughing.
