Just scheduled my CCW class today!

So I've been a member here for a month or so and have been a DAILY reader and poster (when I feel I can add something of value) of DC.

I am overjoyed to say that on June 18th I will be taking my CCW course with about 4 other students. I live in Ohio and have read and read and read again the laws and restrictions. I still have much to learn and many questions to ask but feel I am ready to take on the responsibility as a CCW holder.

I plan to carry my S&W M&P 9c to start in a UBG Striker holster. I'm sure the more firearms I acquire, the more I will rotate them but this is the plan as of now.

Thank you all for the great response to the DC community!

Congrats. It will be a life changing experience from this point forward.
Sometimes in life you have to stand your ground. It's a hard lesson to learn and even most adults don't get it, but in the end only I can be responsible for my life. If faced with any type of adversity, only I can overcome it. Waiting for someone else to take responsibility is a long fruitless wait.

I don't know if your state requires shooting or not, but have you been practicing? Good luck in the class, put your sponge hat on that day.

The live-range component varies, depending on the instructor/course. While a 2-hour live-range time is mandatory under law, I do not believe that there are actual marksmanship/pistolcraft specifics.

younggun, whereabout in the state are you located?

    Which course/instructor did you choose?

Make sure to WRITE DOWN your questions for class. Many classes are so packed with information that you can easily forget what it was you wanted to ask. Don't be afraid to ask for things to be repeated if you are unsure of what was said, I've had students sit quite and not ask a question and then miss the test answers then when asked why they said they were embarrassed since no one else asked any questions.

Remember, this is a class for you, get your moneys worth.

    Enjoy and be safe!
