FL CWFL does not limit one to any make, model, serial no., or number of firearms. Carry one backup, carry a hundred--makes no difference here.

Welcome to the forum. It would help cut down on the number of replies if you narrowed down your question to a few states, unless you travel extensively.
Handgunlaw.us is an excellent source of information. Be aware though that there are still nuiances in the laws that might not be covered. Here in Michigan we are supposidely are allowed to carry more than one handgun however I have heard that a certain DA in a certain county will prosecute for more than one gun since the license does not say "Concealed Pistol(s) License. Also carry in a car can get tricky. As I understand it here in Michigan open carry is allowed except in a car, and you can concealed carry in a car if you have a CPL, but even with a CPL you cannot open carry in a car. Go figure.
I believe Wisconsin has always allowed open carry, EXCEPT in a car. If you are open carrying you have to disarm before getting into a car. I'm not sure how their new concealed carry law soon to be signed handles concealed carry in a car.
Another thing that you did not directly ask about but that goes along with the multiple gun question is restrictions on type of gun/caliber. Some states only allow you to carry the type gun (Semi-auto or revolver) or caliber that you originally qualified with when you got your permit.
Again Handgunlaw.us would normally cover this.

New Mexico is the only state that only allows one handgun to be concealed with a permit/license valid in NM. NM Is an open carry state so you can conceal one and carry as many as you want openly. But their law is specific that only one firearm can be concealed.

I have tried unsuccessfully to track the origins and reasoning behind this limitation.

Missouri allows you to carry any gun you wish, and any number of guns you wish concealed with your permit.
As far as car carry goes, the old law was that a loaded handgun must be in plain view when you are stopped by an LEO, ie, on the dash board or laying on the seat next to you.
With the passage of the CCW law, the "car law" changed as well. Now, anyone who is over 21 (and legally able to own a handgun), may carry a loaded handgun concealed in the vehicle. This applies to anyone over age 21 whether they have a CCW permit or not.
So, the passage of the CCW law actually created a benefit for everyone, even to those who do not have a permit.

Nebraska allows you to conceal as many as you want to.

First off, welcome to the forum. As to your question, no restriction in Virginia.

South Dakota - carry'em if you got'em. Open or concealed (with permit, any state's permit). Nothing I can find in the laws puts any limits on number of firearms.
The only common sense gun legislation was written about 224 years ago.
I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.
