My doctor and I were talking about concealed carry last time I was in, and he said he was planning on getting a permit. I thought that was cool. I've also run into my dentist at the range.

As a doctor, I try not to discuss this topic with my patients, as some don't have the same views. But if it comes up, I will give my opinion. I think a good indications might be the magazines in the lobby. I don't allow liberal magazines in the waiting room, and I do have a few gun/hunting magazines.
Most patients "fish" about talking of a hunting trip or a gun they inherited, etc, to see how I react.
Finally, I do have a business card up at the local gun club, so that is a great idea, find a doc from that circle of people.

I can just see my Son-in-Law the doc asking his patients about guns.
"Do you have guns at home?"
I carry a 9mm and my wife a 1911.
Taken the kids to the range yet?

Doctors love guns like mechanics love potholes. More business! :))
I know, bad joke but couldn't resist...

Physicians and Guns
My wife is an MD. We shoot pistols regularly and she particpates at IDPA matches on occasion. When we first met 6 years ago the first thing she knew about me was that I hunted and enjoyed the shooting sports and carried a weapon - legally. She thought it was fun to use and see people using weapons for sporting purposes.
To put it in context my wife is a former foreign national origianlly from Romania. She had never observed the appropriate or recreastional use of firearms. When the wall fell in the early 90s she observed unarmed civilians fired on in a crowd by the military during the collapse of the dictator Nicolae Ceausescu.
Ironically two MD (ob/gyn) docs who shoot at the gun club are also from former or current communist countries - Russa and Cuba. There is also a retired Doc there that shoots as well. The more I think about it the more Docs I know that shoot. I have introduced some that have never fired a weapon before and they loved it.
