"Finders' Keepers" is still applicable with firearms isn't it??
I can't imagine there's a way to do the right thing with reporting the weapon lost and the police giving it back to you for finding it and it not being claimed in X number of days. Dream the dream.
Or go all Hollywood: Crooked Cop and get yourself a brand new drop gun.

Actually one of the first things that I do when I get a hotel room, is look in the drawers for anything "left behind" by the previous occupants and also look around for anything me or my wife may accidentally have left before check out. Doing a thorough room search before leaving is pretty much on the top of my list.
So far, have found nothing like a Glock, but I will keep looking, you never know.

Exactly. My kids are grown but we never did a search at check in for guns when my kids were young. This could have turned out tragically and gun owners everywhere would have paid for it for years to come. Part of gun ownership is knowing where they are. Part of being a responsible adult is keeping innocent children safe.

I don't know, I hear they conceal really well in a dresser drawer.

You don't won a Glock, and you missed the chance to 'pick one up.'

Yep, that is the true moral of this story.

Whether you have children or not, this would be a good reason to go through the room after check-in.
1) You could save yourself from a potential accidental shooting tragedy.
2) If that firearm were used in a crime & they find it after you check-out, you could become entangled in a legal hassle.
Just a thought...

JDlewis, I know what you mean, but taken out of context this is just too funny.

Ok, commando, or whatever !
Seriously, can you imagine the trauma and liability issue if some child had found that unattended gun? I don't generally poke too much in hotel rooms (lot's of cooties) but did find some kids stash of girlie mags in the bathroom once in Las Vegas. Happened to see a nice-looking pair of panties in the corner behind a chair once in New Orleans. Well so much for thorough housekeeping.
Turn the election's in 2014 to a "2A Revolution". It will serve as a 1994 refresher not to "infringe" on our Second Amendment. We know who they are now.........SEND 'EM HOME.
