Not sure which scenario you are responding to:

The accidental shooting would be with you or your family - reaching in the drawer & accidentally finding the trigger; a child who doesn't know better finds the firearm.

The legal hassle would be detectives following up on a found weapon that had been used in a serious crime, following whatever trail they find - you were on that trail.

On the contrary, you would be surprised just how easily a 26/27 will disappear.

    YMMV

I'd search it upon arrival. If there's anything that could get you in trouble, get it reported before you settle in, otherwise, you could be on the hook for that stash of ......

Food for thought - what would you do if you found gun in your hotel room? Take it? Turn it in? Go use it for a crime spree and toss it?

The only common sense gun legislation was written about 224 years ago.

I carry always not because I go places trouble is likely, but because trouble has a habit of not staying in its assigned zone.

I guess this just proves how comfortable it is to carry a glock, the original owner forget he wasn't wearing it!
I wonder if there will be any charges filed against the person that left it behind? It would seem like a case could be made for public endangerment maybe.
