    Carry on Vacation

My family is going on vacation to Gatlinburg, TN from NC. I will take my weapon with me, but I'm looking for advice on what to look out for while traveling. I know that on some of the parkways if you get stopped carrying it is a problem. Just looking for a heads up.

I always check packing.org for the states in which I'll be traveling to ensure I know the local rules and ensure everybody honors my permits. I especially pay attention to places where carry isn't permitted in those states, as well as the notification rules if approached by law enforcement. I print the appropriate pages and take them with me.

I plan my wardrobe and holsters appropriate to the weather and events (SmartCarry for family hugging events, etc.), and bring a locking case if I think that there will be times that I won't be carrying (e.g., beach).

That about covers it for my carry planning. Relax and enjoy!

I have a quick question that maybe someone can answer. If you look at the page on the link above and look at the first page. If you look at Tennesse under "states that honor this states permit" you will see Alabama honors Tennesse's permit but if you look at Alabama under "permits/licenses that this state honors" it doesn't show Tennessee. That seems to be contradictory to me. Is there something I'm missing? So can I CCW legally in Alabama? I'm probably going to be going to Florida and I will be going through Alabama...

Just remember also that some states have stricter restrictions that others. Here in Fl its a weapons permit, I can legally carry a concealed knife, asp baton, chemical spray, or stun gun. But in Alabama, mississippi, and Arkansas its a pistol permit. There are also differences in laws such as "castle doctrine", and "right to protect laws" that you need to be aware of. Good Luck and God Speed.

well, I just checked and it does show that Tn. is under the "permits/licenses that this state honors" for Alabama, maybe they have updated it since you posted.
There is a guy who is a member here who is involved in the handgunlaw site, they are fairly new and are constantly updating, they have done a super job with the site so far!
