Smaller Gun
Hi everyone, I am fairly new to carrying all the time as I just had my restrictions removed from my ccw here in NY. I currently have a Glock 19 which in the summer is a little hard to conceal since I'm only 5'3" and 140 lbs. Thinking about
getting a ruger LC9, for an easier to conceal carry gun. Just wondering if anyone has one and if they like them. Here in NY it is almost impossible to find a range to rent one in order to try it out.

Friend of mine has a a LC9 and really likes it.
Single stack 9MMs are out there but the change in platform from one gun to another can be a problem in a defense use as muscle memory is a not the same.
You might consider a Glocy 36 or Glock 26 as you are already carrying a Glock 19.

I've handled the LC9, and was surprised at how big it is.
I've heard plenty of good things about it, but am not aware of any advantage that it brings over any already proven single-stack 9mm pocket pistol.
My preference is the PM9 (or CM9).

Saw the new Diamond Back DB 9 and the DB 380, both small and both very concealable, you can get the wallet holster for them as well.

I did not know that Diamond Back was making a 9. Is there anyone with feedback on them? Are they reliable enough to carry?
from what I understand they would be close in platform to a Glock or XD. Right?

Just picked up a Kahr CM9 a few weeks ago. An excellent handgun and easily concealable.

I had a Ruger LC9 and didn't care for the trigger. Ended up selling it and replaced with a Kahr.

Do yourself a favor and bypass the LC9 and go a little more expensive and get a Kahr CW9. Much better ergonomics and in my opinion just an all around better gun. I have about 1000 rounds through mine now with not one singe problem.

I have an LC9 with 1400 some odd rounds put down range. 3 FTE but other than those the gun runs smoothly. It will be a bit bigger than the Kahrs or DB9 and a bit bigger than the Kel Tec PF9. I haven't handled the new Sig or Kimber Solo so I can't compare.
I own a few Rugers and am used to their platform/ergonomics. It all comes down to what feels right in your hands and has a good track record. As long as you don't buy a super cheap gun and go with one of the major firearms makers, you should be ok.
I recently had an uncle in town from California who hasn't shot a gun in years and has been contemplating getting a pistol for HD. He started with My Ruger Mark III .22 and was instanly hooked. He shot my other pistols and basically ended up thinking that he wanted to buy an SR9c like I have.
Then I had him fondle a few of the pistols the range/store has for sale. He still liked my SR9c but found a few he loved in his hands and a few he didn't. He realized that he needs to find a gun that is right for him, not what he thinks will be right because someone else says it will be.
I know Glocks are great pistols. I will probably never own one because they don't feel right in my hand. Still a great gun, just not for me.
Find what you like and then shoot the hell out of it!
I don't carry a gun to look for or start a fight. I carry one to finish a fight I never wanted to be in.

Kahr PM9 (or the cheaper CM9). Excellent, excellent slim and high quality single stack 9mm pocket pistol. I love mine and I'll never sell it even though I recently "upgraded" to pocket carrying (yes, it can easily be done) a G26 with two G19 15rd spare mags. That's a whole lotta firepower in the pockets.

I under stand the problem with a glock. They are a thick pistols if nothing else. I now carry a kahr cm9 . Makes for a good pocket pistol and I also have a cw 9 that spend time in a IWB holster. I use the longer 7 and 8 shoot mags for some range time and back up in the smaller pistol. Down side of the what I call 2 finger pistol is only 2 fingers on the grip. Some people have problems controling them. The kahr 9 mm are very controlable compared to a pair of KT 9mm a have owned . The cw9 and the cm9 can be bought for aound 409 at a better gun store. And if recoil is not an issue look at KT pf-9 .at 13 oz it works well of carry too.
