Small Zoo postings
We took the kids to a small zoo today and ironically there were 2 signs posted beside each other. The first one basically said "Danger, wild animals can seriously hurt you" yada, yada, yada. The sign beside it said "No firearms or weapons on zoo property." I thought this was somewhat ironic. I had checked the website before we left home and it did not say anything about no weapons. In Virginia the signs do not carry force of law on a place that is not specifically restricted by legislation. I just found the irony of the two signs side by side, one about how dangerous it is and the other saying you can't defend yourself too much not to share. I wish I would have taken a picture.

I remember years ago, right before we went to the Toronto Zoo, a Wolf had got out and mauled a kids arm off. Then there was that Tiger that escaped and killed someone, I think that was the LA Zoo? I'm sure there are other incidents as well.
I sure wouldn't mind being armed at a zoo. It'd have my G33 and then a .500 S&W (I wish I had one) for the really big dangerous animals. Not that it happens often but you never know. And when I go to the Zoo, I have my Wife and three kids with me, I need to be able to protect them from anything bad.

I don't remember whether or not River Banks Zoo (in Columbia, SC) has a gun buster sign... They probably do. Which sucks. But, I don't go to the zoo, so it doesn't matter that much to me.

Riverbanks has a sign that says no weapons, coolers, whatever else on it. It doesn't have the gunbuster logo or even specifically mention firearms. Since they don't complain about my openly carried Benchmade I figure they don't care about my concealed M&P. If they did, then they should put up a sign that meets the letter of the law.

That is what I was thinking too.
Since they don't carry legal weight in Florida I don't even look for the signs. Concealed is concealed and if they ask me to leave I'll just leave after explaining How I will never spend any more money with them.

I'm with you. I respect the law and obey it to a T...policies that aren't law, all bets are off. I have a policy that my policy outweighs their policy yet they seem to ignore it, so I ignore theirs.
