Carrying in North Carolina this Weekend

I'm going to be passing through North Carolina this weekend and was wondering if there was still a state of emergency in effect from Irene. I know NC state law says that during a state of emergency you can't carry or transport a firearm, but does this supersede federal transportation laws for just passing through? If not, could I unload and store my firearm in a case in Virginia and then reload it in South Carolina or would it be better just to not bring a firearm at all? I don't really feel like driving through Tennessee and Georgia to get to South Carolina just so I can carry a firearm.

    Thanks

Doesn't matter, the last state of emergency did not affect carry of weapons per the gov. Carry away.

    Thumbs up

    Thanks for the info!
    I don't carry a gun because I'm angry.

NC Bullseye answered the first part of your question. As to the second part. State law is not going to trump federal law. In a case where a state of emergency was in effect and carry was suspended, as lung as you complied with federal regulations for transportation, you would be good.
