    Other new stuff for Arizona:

    HB 2584 -- person with a LEOSA (retired LEO) certificate can bypass training requirement, passed eff. now;
    HB HB 2649 -- preemption law (further clarification) that no political subdivision can create a law relating to firearms unless to implement current law, passed eff. now;
    SB 1145 -- "castle doctrine" adding presumption of innocence for home and occupied vehicle, passed eff. now;
    SB 1258 -- requires law enforcement agencies to issue LEOSA (retired LEO) certificates if honorably retired, passed eff. now;
    HB 2074 -- eliminates renewal training for CCW permits, passed eff. 09/21/06;
    HB 2076 -- requires public buildings/events who prohibit firearms to provide on-site and temporary storage and adds the "map pocket" in vehicles as an acceptable storage location without a permit, passed eff. 09/21/06.

    I've been to the DPS site, and the AZ legislature site, and after much more research (why can't the law be easier to read/understand) it looks like HB 2740 was passed/ammended without the provision for firearms in restaurants.

    If anyone knows more, or differently, please chime in and let us know.

    Just talked to SD. Sec. Of State Office.

    They confirmed that we signed a formal reciprocity agreement on Monday 07-08-06. It is effective now. She said Arizona must not have posted it to it's website yet. SD. Sec. Of State 605-773-3537..

    I would urge caution until 9-21-06.

    I would urge caution until 9-21-06. Arizona said it's not official till then. They also said that they would recognize it now, if you were just a visitor, but it has not went out to local PD's yet??? AZ. CWPU (602) 256-6280

    Arizona DPS Confirmed to me also. Without their confirmation I wouldn't have posted it.

    Did not doubt you...

    Did not doubt you...Gary, but was concerned that South Dakota jumped the gun at posting it before 9-21-06 to their website.

    South Dakota has recognized all other states permits, for over a year now. But we only were valid in 18 states, 19 with Arizona now.

    Recognition

    The State of South Dakota recognizes any valid concealed pistol permit issued to a nonresident of South Dakota according to the terms of its issuance in the state of its issue. SDCL 23-7-7.4

    Well, if AZ signed an agreement -- if I remember right -- then it's binding now. I'm pretty sure only the compulsive agreement signing is required on 09/21/06. If AZ signed the agreement before then, then that should mean that SD falls within the current guidelines that allows AZ to enter into an agreement. Might be wrong, but I couldn't see them sign one this early.

    Cheers.
