Allegheny National Forest
I am supposed to be getting my Arizona carry permit any day now. This will allow me to carry in PA. I am going to be camping in Allegheny National Forest over the weekend. From what I understand one can carry there as long as the have a permit. Is this true?
Also, if my permit doesn't arrive in time could I open carry even though I am an Ohio resident.

I think you can conceal carry with your permit and can open carry if you don't have it. But it would be best to call the park. Also, a lot of people have guns in PA, but you just don't see people open carry. It is up to you. Also, if you do not get the permit in time check out the rules related to having a gun in your car in PA. I have a permit and can do it, but I don't remember all the rules about it when you don't have a permit. I am thinking it is a big no no. :-)

When in compliance with State law, concealed and open carry has always been legal in National Forests and National Wilderness Areas. In general, recreational shooting is allowed away from campgrounds.
National Forest Wilderness Area - 36 C.F.R. § 261.57
When provided by an order, the following are prohibited:
(c) Possessing a firearm or firework.
National Forests - 36 C.F.R. § 261.58:
When provided by an order, the following are prohibited:
(m) Discharging a firearm, air rifle, or gas gun.
(v) Hunting or fishing
'When provided by an order' is when the National Forest Supervisor has written and published a specific order.
Allegheny National Forest Hunting regulations are at 'Hunting'
Information about a PA Public Shooting Range Permit is at 'Shooting Range Permit'

Yes, call. Note, auto loaders are not allowed for hunting in PA if you decide to try that route and a special sportsman permit is required for handgun hunting.

I went ahead and called the office for allegheny and the sheriffs office for the county. Open carry is permitted for out of state visitors.
